Where do you stand? And are you fine with what you have reached so far? Any more goals?
You definitely should answer this 1st
So me personally, I have a Bachelor's in English literature and linguistics as a major and communication and media science as a minor and I am on the verge of finishing my second in Spanish/French/Italian literature and linguistics and Oriental/Middle Eastern studies. I speak four languages on an academic level and two more on basic casual level... So I was pretty content with starting a job and later adding a Master's mess by age 26/27 and then maybe write a Doctor's mess when I am in my early 30's...
I am getting a cool job at a media company this summer and I was pretty proud and content, because I had no sponsor mess.
But obviously during Christmas and because of a recent class reunion I have been reevaluating my career and had to explain my degree a lot... "Oh so you study Spanish books? Oh umm cute"; hearing about how some of my class mates have Master's in Psychology, getting their PhD in Medicine and Surgery, Law, Computer Science...
And it made me think, dang did I spend the last four years studying something trivial and useless, am I not challenging myself properly? I want to do well for my family back in the motherland, but I also don't wanna sit behind no damn desk just so I can sound fancy in small talk, but then it is something you could wear with pride, having finished Law or Math or something...
Well idk, now I am contemplating doing something in the science field, when before I felt pretty blessed and content with my path...
Yes honestly, but gonna get this last degree.

I am applying for my Master's at the moment. I want to do political sciences or something African to be more exotic. And then get my Doctor title mess.
I am just worried I do it for the prestige and not for the actual qualification and challenge or knowledge.
Is it stupid to study Medicine or Computer Science out of spite or vanity? Am thinking of adding another mess just for bragging rights...
:ohwow:

Language is a beatiful thing. It can be a gateway to other beautiful things. You didn't waste your time, you followed your fate's path. Could you really see your life being enriched spending four years studying and creating algorithms?

Honestly it sounds like CANCER already lol
But I would be so proud of myself that I had been able to take something, that was not naturally easy for me. Like I went out of my comfort zone and challenged myself?
I usually do, what I am talented in anyways and what comes easy. Always finding some loopholes and some way to make it fun. When in life you should also learn to do the dirty work, no?
I don't want to ever stop learning

Honestly yes and no. I'm on my second degree and I'm very proud of that but I don't feel as if I'll use them at all. I'm in the military so I've been in school just because it's free and I felt it would be a waste not to take advantage of it but when I get out in 2 years, I'll be going to design school for 4 years, chasing a 3rd degree, the one that I will actually use.

I love where I am however I am going back to school soon. I have my associates in paramedicine, bachelor's in exercise physiology and master's in exercise science. I need 3 more classes to finish my nursing degree.
It's such an honor saving lives. It's challenging but this is what I was made to do. Kind of fun riding helicopters.
Hate school, but I know in order to be where I want to be, it's necessary to keep going. So far, I've only obtained a Bachelor's in English.

I'm currently doing my PGCE, specialising in Business, Media and Computer Science.
I'm learning the programming language Python. It's soooooooo tricky, but I'm getting there.
How old will your students be? You want be a teacher, right?
I am very pleased with my level of education, but there is still so much I'd like to learn.

B.A. Latin American Literature
B.S. Biology
M.F.A. Journalism, Magazine Writing
I never thought I'd get a Master's. My plan was always medical school and I achieved that goal. I left after a few months, because I knew I couldn't do something that lacked creativity. That's when I thought about grad school and it was the best decision I've ever made. I loved school, but I am glad that I don't have to go back. I still take courses at schools around Chicago. Most recently, I finished a film-making course at Northwestern to enhance my storytelling abilities.

How old are you? Is it hard to finish a masters in the USA?
Biology sounds like it would take lots of energy to finish. Why not get a masters in that field? Over here to be a broadcast journalist you don't need a degree in that field. It's even better to
have another area of expertise

In the U.S., people say: The hardest thing about medical school is getting in. The hardest thing about grad school is getting out.
I knew I'd never use my science degrees, so it didn't matter. In publishing here, a lot of companies prefer a journalism background/training. It's becoming less important, because a lot of writers these days are terrible, have no training and will get paid in pennies just to get a byline. It does, however, qualify me to teach at a higher level and take on roles like Managing/Senior Editor, etc.
When people say education is an investment, it's no joke. In certain fields, degrees from recognized schools (not necessarily experience) can really open doors.

I dropped out :letsmessfag: I was studying Neuroscience and I had to leave before I lost my damn mind :udontlookok: and I'm glad I did. I was in college since 15/16 and just over it and + it wasn't the major I wanted to do. I just did it cause there was pressure to get into the medical field and blah blah. You know how Africans are.
Yes. I'm very satisfied. A Phd would be overkill and unnecessary for me, unless I plan to go into academia. And I have no intention of doing so.
Over school and education completely.
ddddd I don't even know how I got through high school since I barely ever went :dead: and I went to 3 colleges because I couldn't be BOTHERED
but I feel like my psychology and health science degree is enough for what I want to do in the future.
Might do a part time counselling degree for work next year if I fucking feel like it
but the mere thought of ever having to do another exam or another assignment again :gorlonbloodclartfire:

I'm a lawyer, with a Masters in International Human Rights Law
I start my masters program next month in January. Not sure if I'll pursue a Ph.D., but I also said that about Masters. :dead: we'll just fucking see....

I have a Bachelor's degree. Actually I recently graduated from undergrad over the summer lol. Currently 4 or 5 months into a paid internship in the field I went to school for. Not sure if I really need another degree at this point tbh. We'll see.

You can never gain enough knowledge so not really.
Although I dropped out of college awhile back because I went with no kind of direction/plans and was just going just to go so I wasted a degree and a few years.
I've pretty much narrowed my choices down to two things so I'm going back early/mid 2017.
I feel like getting my bachelors was a waste, I'm not done "learning" but I'm definitely done with traditional school.
After I get this Comp Sci degree I'm kinda done. I've thought about doing a Masters but I'm just not really interested in my degree subject like THAT anyway.

You know what bugs me the fuck out. In my college they start recruiting rich white as early as middle school. These kids already have a better education, better resources, more prepared with a set direction on what they want to do and loads of other advantages.
boy, education truly is a system that decides who gets to live and who gets left for dead.

wealth/poverty
educated/ignorant
healthy/sick
white/non-white
male/female&trans
str8/gay
eventually camps will be set up if we don't act now

For the most part, yes. I work in the charity sector so it's much more bout experience and the relationships you build.
I do want to learn a language, preferably French. I thought about doing distance learning but I'm terrible with independent study. I need routine.

This recently happened to me! I was about 20 credits away from graduating then I realized I didn't wanna work in the field I was studying for (Psych) and my degree was going to be completely useless.
I've just been saving money and I'm gonna go back in Fall '17. Had I stuck to my plans I would have graduated 2 years ago :dead:

Jobs in my fields of study aren't scarce, but are competitive. I guess I was lucky enough to secure a very good job in the financial sector despite not having the pre-requisite business degree, and the pay trumps anything that I could've applied for had I stayed in my field.
Outside of inheriting the I.T guy role at my workplace, the degrees honestly feel like a waste :dead:
