Title: Is Chance's "indie" success a bit misleading?
Post by: KING BENTLEY. on February 22, 2017, 02:21:23 PM
I mean .... his father backed him better than any label ever could financially ... AND with networking :dead:

I'm seeing so many posts about ppl posting their art for free now expecting the same payout ... I advise against it.

Plus a lot of ppl just hear, oh he did it indie giving music away for free :dead:

Even still, what he did was a big feat

But new artists still need to know that isn't going to happen for them being completely indie.

I think the most important thing it did, was take away the excuses for established artists who have the means but ALWAYS try to convince their fans it ain't happening because of no label support or backing :dead:

So it is going to shift the industry just a bit I think.

I love Chance's positive energy, I'm definitely a fan of his craft now

All this Chance hate. :dead: :dead: :dead:

People are acting like he had overnight success when he's been out since 2012 putting out mixtapes.
He released 3 mixtapes and 2 were critical acclaim.
Hard work pays off and he's winning!

I know he either financed or helped to finanace a lot

QuoteKen Williams-Bennett worked for the Mayor of Chicago
His dad also worked for Obama too, they're extremely well connected :dead:

I didn't even notice until somebody was hating on Chance getting to visit the White-House.

Until then I thought he was just a kid off the street that lucked up :dead:

QuoteIt shouldn?t reflect negatively on Chance, but anyone with the backing of a company worth $700 billion ? several times more than all the major labels combined ? can?t be considered independent, especially when that company is an indispensable part of the music economy through Apple Music, iTunes, Beats 1 and the rest.

sssssssssssssssssss

I mean, if he didn't seem so nice and cool I'd say he deserved a lashing.

And the Grammys played along into the whole thing.

I hate how whites step in to create new history for us when it's suits their agenda.

Who was all up against him for his grams?
They need to retroactively give Kendrick his.

Wow

Yeah that's not really the same struggle as most

He's already in the mix; in the circle

A lot of these artists are tho. Like I think Justine Skye has fam in entertainment some how.
But Chance's music must really be good because he rose above and amongst the greats

wow, so he false advertises to get more popularity

that's like Drake when he was all "yall had a deal, i did it without one" yeah, fagg, but you made sure to suck every popular rapper's dick and put them on every song on the 'tape tho. These faggs are so FAKE nowadays
