So Ive been wondering does anyone know what rights brandy has to her songs?
Like does she own them or does atlantic still own them
and as far as performing goes can she do her whole catalouge or are there songs she cant perform?
and is her vevo page directly associated with a LABEL or is it free and clear for her
And can she buy her masters lol
Anyone know?
:ummwhat:
only Bran and whoever does business with her would know this info lol
How the hell are we supposed to know this :dead:

I dunno i figured some ppul knew something
yes
C, shit iunno
in all honesty I just wish we could get oir hands on all of the unheard gems that have been recorded
lol I just always wondered these things
like when she re-recorded vocals for that tbim/girl remix
like why would you have to do that when you are even listed as a songwriter for that song in particular (i think)
and then how her vevo didnt get updated untill she signed with epic
and she doesnt really perform too much 2/11 material either
got me wondering

The producer who's computer its on owns them, unless the label had paid for them
In which case they were prolly re-recorded by other artists, a la Louboutin, depending on the recording agreement of course

So when she performs these old hits

The specifics of these kinds of deals happen behind closed doors, and would only be known to the artist, their lawyers, the attorneys for the label, agents of the publishing firm, and maybe the management. There are some likelihoods.
Brandy has performance rights to the original music she records and releases, underneath the most recent terms of the contract for which it was recorded. As the performer of the original master recording, she has the right to perform them. "Owning" them is a more complicated thing. The label may own the master recording, but the lyrics and lead is usually owned by the publishing company/companies. The amount of Brandy's stake in any of her songs could range on a wide scale.
I'm sure there's a stan or two on here who will pretend that they know.

I see so this stuff wouldnt be common knowledge unless you had access to this paperwork
but ok so she can perform everysong she has recorded on a released album just fine right?
