my friend owns the house i am at now and i rent from him just room mess basically
but i got my own private bath and its been great
but his house needs some repairs which cauuse utilities to be higher
so i started paying 100 dollars extra
then he didnt pay his electric bill for 3 months and his mortgage went up
and he wantst go up again on the rent
which is not worth it
my goal was to pay less actually to save some money for closing costs and getting some of my debt managed
but doesnt look like that can happen
gotta get my own place

Oh .. well I have definitely heard of someone having to put a lil deposit down for an application but not that much .. I think it's called an administrative fee.. that's refunded if u are denied

Application fee should be no more than $50 and with the administration taxes fees (to hold the unit) should be no more than $100 and you get your coin (admin fee) back if you're not approved. That person asking for an $800 deposit without you even seeing the facility/unit was trying to scam you. A reputable company/person would never. They don't even ask for anything to test drive a car. You have got to be really careful when answering ads online/paper.
