She was a bit stiff with her movements, but nice voice.
Bran >>>
(and I'm not saying that cause I'm a Brandy fan)
This girl is giving Talent show. Bran' was amaze'.
she is killing a bit. didnt expect such a jazzy slay.
I like her voice. She could improve on her moves though.
This was actually cuter than I thought it would be.
She'll get better as she gets more settled into the role.
she looks as if she was half sleep :dead: glad you guys are being nice, but come on.
Its not even about Brandy ... she had NO energy at all, and her face was expressionless.
Roxie is a BIG character with loads of personality. she doesn't have it lol no wonder they wanted Bran to extend
for a second time. Michelle killed this girl too
she looks and sounds great....was the brandy comparison required tho :uhh:
pretty girl though. the producers were horrified with her performance and scared she wouldn't
learn anything in time, so at least she knows the words

!!!!! It's like she has zero personality here. She had way more on DWTS. I wouldn't pay to see this. No wonder they postponed her for a couple weeks due to a "injury" lol mess
I miss Brandy

Actually, that was a rumor. I know a number of people who are involved behind the scenes of "Chicago" including the stage managers for Rumer's run which doesn't open until later this month. She did actually have an injury that she sustained during rehearsals.
You have to understand that this is Rumer's first time ever doing anything like this, including singing in front of a crowd. She's always been a singer but she's never done it in front of an audience. When it comes to Broadway, nerves does get in the way at times. Trust me, I've done stage performances where the first time you're doing it in front of an audience, it's very intimidating. Especially musical theatre and dark comedies. Brandy has been on stage for well over 20+ years so it's nothing new to her. But as for Rumer, this is her first time ever doing something of this nature outside of DWTS ever. She's a trained dancer but has never done anything of this nature. I've been doing theatre for over 20+ years myself, and every time I do a new role for the first time, it's intimidating. Plus, she hasn't been rehearsing for long either. She just started full out rehearsals two weeks ago.

It happens a lot on this board. I really don't get that. Two totally different versions of Roxie. Hell, Jennifer Nettles from Sugarland was in the role before Brandy started her run and I saw her and it was totally different. Every person makes a role different. That's standard in Broadway. You can't be like this actor/actress or that actor/actress. Once she eases into the role, she's going to get better and better.
She did good. Y'all okay?
She has a nice jazzy voice.

i wasn't comparing her to Brandy
If she isn't ready to have some sort of energy (you can't teach some of these things) then she shouldn't have gotten the role
N
This is BROADWAY not community theatre, Hun. (Which I still respect) so no she doesn't get a pass here. This was God awful
She didn't sound bad, but Roxie isn't emo with no personality lol

It's Good Morning America. It's not like it's opening night and even then it still can go a certain way. It's the way it is in Broadway, I've seen a number of Broadway shows where opening night can be off. Plus, I have a number of theatre professors who have performed on Broadway and have explained all of this many times. This is pretty normal. Hell, you should've seen Cinderella's opening night. You would've been critiquing Ne Ne's ass too. Lots of Broadway performers go through this. It's normal. It takes time to get into a certain character. Especially if you've been only rehearsing for two weeks.
And it wasn't awful at all. smh
I wasn't expecting her to sound that good.
werk! Rumor
And FYI, the only difference between Off-Broadway and Broadway shows is the financial backing. That's all. Other than that there's a lot of similarities. Both still have a director, producer, creative director/artistic director, music supervisor (for Musicals), etc. Broadway has investors whereas Off-Broadway and Off-Off Broadway normally does community fundraising, etc. That's the only difference between the two.

No that's preview, not opening night. Previews are a special run where only a select number of tickets are sold. It doesn't open until I think the 8th or 15th. She's doing previews right now which is standard for most Broadway shows that start in the Fall.

I saw her do Me and My Baby. She's very low energy, but it's not terrible. I don't expect her to be on the same level as Brandy. It's difficult not to compare because it's the same role, but Rumer is very laid back and so is her version of Roxie. She has nice voice.
fff who even fucking cares about Roxy..
She sounds pretty good. She'll continue to improve as the show goes on.
I can't lie, Brandy has forever changed the role of Roxie, IMO. She's like the new standard now.
