What are some things your parents forbade you from doing when you were younger that kinda made you give
:rudone:
My parents were kinda God Warrior-ish tbh; they didn't like me reading/watching Harry Potter and stuff because it promoted 'witchcraft' and ungodly mess. I used to always think 'girl what the fuck is the difference between what you think god does and witchcraft?'
Still read the books anyway tho
:justabit:
I couldn't use salt or knives for food until I was like 11
But that's not really weird I guess
My mom didn't let me read Harry Potter either for that exact same reason.
:plzstop:
My dad didn't really care though.
Eat candy or any kinda of sweets
gvbnv
now tht i think 'bout it i wasnt restricted for an' thing
i was jus a prude ass kid
watch white television shows like Friends and Seinfield :plzstop:
My parents kinda let me do anything I want. Can?t think of anything weird.
Couldn?t sleep over anyone?s house
Couldn?t eat Burger King specifically :kii:
Nothing in particular really. Not stay out late I guess.
I don?t know why ppl even like sleeping over other ppls houses. No ma?am. Ain?t nothing like your own bed.

klfmMMMMMMMMMMM
Well fight the power then
Couldn't watch Buffy or Charmed
And my mom threw away my Matilda movie because she thought it was witchcraft
:butim16robert:
So glad she's out of that phase
Watch BET. She thought music videos were too risqu?. I watched anyway. Now, I think she was right.
I used to think her not letting me attend sleepovers was weird, but I grew older and learned how many girls are abused. She only trusted a few people around her kids, period. I can see why a mother should be overprotective.
We couldn't buy and eat "junk food" (i.e. waffles, hot dogs, ramen noodles, twinkies lol)...
If it wasn't "Caribbean food", then it wasn't REAL food...
Says the people with high blood pressure. Pure ignorance.

ggggg yeah we couldn't do this either
But the funny thing is my youngest siblings are allowed to now. My parents have slacked over the years I guess :dead: :kii:
Also, we couldn't go outside and play the last year before we moved from Brooklyn.
Apparently, there was someone with a gun nearby, as us kids played "Steal the Bacon" in the middle of the street.
I missed those days. :stressed:
Anyway, My mom found out that we didn't go inside when the mess was going on... and we spent the next year giving money to our friends from our apartment window (we lived on the 1st floor) to buy us 'now and laters' and candy from the store. It wasn't like anyone got shot or anything. We were pissed.

Crazy thing is now we've celebrated every year since my niece and nephew were born. It's a new tradition my sister started with them. I now even give out candy and decorate our house every year. I'm not doing it this year tho because we always get a low turn out. A lot of children didn't know on our door last year.
Its not that she wouldn't let me but she would fuss at me and make me put on shoes and stop walking around barefoot because "my feet were big enough"
Like girl being barefoot isn't gonna grow my feet.
I forgot we couldn't trick-or-treat either.
My dad didn?t want me watching anything violent sdddff I was a huge Hercules/Xena fan and he stayed pissed
n
Watched anyway

Honestly, my parents didnt really get strict until I turned 18. But I guess thats because I was a really good kid.
They never really cared "too" much about how late I got home, just as long as I came home at a reasonable hour, which I always did (they didnt like me sleeping over at friends). They actually cared more about what time I LEFT. :dead: :uhh: I always had to leave the house by 9:30pm or I had to stay my ass home. I still dont understand that.
:udontlookok:
The only show they TRULY didnt want me watching was "the show with the cursing bby" (Family Guy). :dead: And South Park. I kinda acted my AGE and was never into that stuff. :dead: I didnt get into The Real World, Gossip Girl, College Hill type MESS until high school.

Not sleep at ppl crib..
Not eat at other ppl crib..
And not wear shit with skulls on it .. said it was demonic
Also not celebrate Halloween
Sleepovers were the best
My parents weren't that strict everywhere tbh. They never moderated my internet behaviour too heavily as a kid like most parents did.
Which was good because there was a lot of MESS on my computer haha
My parents let us do anything we wanted.
I learned to drive at age 9 LOL
I couldn't talk to boys on the phone until... idk, HS?
It was always a big deal when girls would sneak and call boys when I was in middle school.

I think it is a Nigerian thing. Like you cannot talk about your day/do nothing when you eat. Something with to do with respect or something.

we couldnt say certain words that aren't really profanity: Nigga, Lie, Fart
my grandmother would always say not to lay down with my hands behind my head

We couldn't say anything close to a cuss word, like dang or heck.
Never mind that all the adults in my family cuss like sailors. :everythingok:
