I MEAN!!!!
I just wish Mo' didnt say people should boycott Netflix. That's what fucked everything up.
Perfect.
There's nothing wrong with the way she feels.
It's OK to speak on the negative effects of living in a White dominated, White owned and operated country.
It's just her approach that is turning me off.
A lot of her speech has been condescending.
It's hard to feel someone's pain when they're giving every bit of :sup: as they speak on their struggle or issue.
Agreed
My issue is that this is ALL about Monique and her wanting us to stand with her in her plight to make more money :dead:
If this was a conversation on how black people are underpaid across the board maybe I would've received it differently. When she started throwing out this unwarranted ass entitlement, I was really done. It also doesn't help that I don't even regard this bitch as some great comedian, so I TOO don't think she deserves more than 500k for a stand up set. Sorry but no. Maybe next time with someone else and another approach.
Blackstress Janet Hubert's response in 3...2...1...
Agreed
That being said I?m not boycotting Netflix so Monique can get a check
I mean? was she ready to protest before this mess ?
I?m a bit confu?

Speaking of which where the fuck is Monique's Pr person?
This whole boycott is just self-serving on Mo'nique's part.

But isn't that always the case tho? How many of us are truly selfless and stand up to make change on issues that DON'T directly affect us or until it directly affects us? I've seen it here when it comes to trans issues. "Another tranny dead in alley doesn't affect my bottom line so...". "Should've did this or that, may be they'd still be alive."
I found myself rolling my eyes when fast food workers wanted $15 an hour. Why? Partly, because I don't flip burgers for a living. Doesn't mean their plight shouldn't be heard and that their argument isn't legitimate. Especially when you put it up against the revenue these fast food corporations make on a yearly basis. An extra 6 dollars, hourly is really a stretch?
I mean...500k for entity like Netflix to offer a NAME (and she will forever be a name, based off being one of only a handful of BLACK Oscar winners...FUCK DAT!) like Monique is ridiculous. Bottom line. :uhh:
Terrible approach and SHIT husband/manager aside...

Which is why I posed it as a question. "How many of us....?"
I can only go off what y'all say. Same with Mo. You don't really kno if she has stood up behind the scenes for others or sacrificed. What you do know, is that she screams FOUL every time she's wronged.
But see, this is where she fucked up when it came to how she went about it. Asking people to boycott something that has become a permanent fixture in their lives was stupid. Cause now we're debating about "who has done what for who" and "where was SHE when...?." The underlining issue still remains. Whoopi say it yesterday, black women have to work twice as hard as their white counterparts, only to get half.
And really, if Netflix has this many customers with brand loyalty, they def could've afforded to thrown her a few extra coins.
I've never seen more niggas scream "I WON'T!" than I did on my timeline when asked to boycott THE 'flix.

I?m sorry but most of these black movements started off because an individual was done wrong. We?ve literally had discussions of people saying they?ve never experienced racism and only understood the mess once educated on it a bit. I am agree with Bishop Boom. All for one and one for all. Honestly you CAN'T understand most things until you experience them
Which is why I rarely fault people for that
Most Americans live a decent life -- Shelter, Food, Entertainment
Imagine if we were SHIPPED to some 3rd world country and had to search for fresh water and food daily and had no internet
I'm sure we'd all be saying EEK! HELPS! A MESS!
But who the fck cares if they don't know what its like?
