Masochist is her best vocal in years. Love Deserve and all the Tayla Made tracks (Like I Do, Accelerate, Pipe, etc). But yeah, she could came harder. Tracks 1-4 is like a long interlude. She could kept all a that.
The alberm is good! Its not radio friendly all the way through but it is good! A great reintroduction to the masses.
"Pipe" sounds like a Tinashe song.

And the reason I say that is because X kinda tackled a lot of genres, looks and vocal styles on 1 album: hip hop, country, neo soul, rock, latin, etc etc. and made it all work and cohesive. She was on her wave length. I know for sure that Christina didnt listen to Pink and said I want an album just like hers. She probably has never even listened to that album.

A big part of that tho is because of these 4 year gaps (now 6yr gap) she takes between albums. I know a song like Right moves was recorded a couple yrs back when the reggae trend was in. Its one of her pitfalls. So by the time she actually releases her shit, it sounds dated or like she's hopping on the bandwagon. She takes way too long between breaks. This album was finished recorded like a year ago.

Great numbers, especially considering she was neck in neck with The Carters for pure sales. I think it's her best album since Back To Basics. Couldn't get through the last 2 albums, while this one is full of solid records. Whoever is choosing these singles is doing a terrible job though because "Pipe" and "Right Moves" are too good to be album fillers.

I wouldn't say she flopped. Nobody really knows she released an album aside from the internet music geeks and her core fans. If you want to talk about a flop, check out Tinashe's and Mya's numbers. I can tell you from my own knowledge that she's contractually obligated to work with people who don't support her. Besides that 'Lotus' album, she doesn't record what they want her to and doesn't play the industry politics games. They didn't even get her a radio deal like they do for Pink, Justin, and Britney.

In no way are these numbers for Christina a bad thing. These are actually good numbers for her in this music climate. Every album these days come and go. Pink and Justin are the same. Their albums had no legs. Bey and Jay sold like 10k more than her in pure sales. Christina had no hits. All she did was release a song song each week and put the album out. U can tell she didn't really care; just wanted to release and punch. She just needs to do a quick follow up release and keep things going.
