Let's chat :ohwow:
Hands down. His impact and what people made fun of him for is all ulthough the current generation
I can seen an argument for it tbh
He's not
Ummm. No
Hmmmm I'd say an icon. Some of his music is legendary though
He's was kind of a gangster Drake before the faggot existed.
An icon yes a legend no
what did he do that nelly didn't or Bone Thugs
A veteran and things

I dont see him in the regards of a big, pac, pun, jay, nas etc.
Ja was just popular for a short while.

the only thing that stood/stands out about ja rule is his melodic rap mess
Nelly and Bone thugs did it better is what I'm saying. He's not really influential enough to be called a legend
IMO

I would put her in the same boat..
R&B Icon.... definitely has some legendary songs though.
I really feel like ja rule is the reason why that rapping singing shit is mainstream
like I don't think future and all them would be here
ja is a legend
hes def not lyrically valued like pac, big, Nas and hov but he has a LARGE and everlasting impact on hip hop
he's a legend
If ppl didn't hate him and see him as a joke
The name Ja Rule is synonymous with negativity though

yea
I def think he was an icon/superstar of his time... that's how I see most people that had a moment during their respective eras/peaks and that obviously weren't one hit wonders.
Legend is a whole nothing big thing.
The word icon and legend is being tossed around like nothing these days, everyone is an icon now.
King is the reason why rappers are open to singing nowadays. 50 use to drag him for shit that all the gorls are doing these days.

Ppl won't "admit it" but they we're and it's clear as day. Once 50 came around everyone tried to act as if they NEVER fucked with Ja Rule which was wack af. All the music rappers like Drake, Future, Young Thug, etc. put out is influenced by Ja
i feel like ... to be legendary, unless you're the MJ'S/Whitney's of the world, you'd better be making some sort of mark in the culture. And not just
musically

Where the fuck do you see ja in the girls
Really?
Ja rule just had great producers and writers
Like
Drake? Future?
:plzstop: :plzstop:
They don't even follow the same formula
Ja made pop hits for radio always with a female singer. Some radio shit
Drake is depressing and Future is 'trap'
A pioneer yes
Have you looked at his album credits?
Yeah lol
He didn't write or produce his mess?
:guys:
He's pretty much a Pop artist
Now check Irv Gotti credits lol
Jdjdjdhdjdjssjeu
I move to strike my original statement
Ja Rule definitely wrote his own lyrics and wrote for others
It also depends on your interpretation of the definition for "icon". An icon is basically just a strong representation or symbol for a particular moment in time. Ashanti is definitely one of the largest representations for early 2000s R&B music. I can see where Ja Rule is arguable. However when we start discussing "influence", I think it shifts more into a conversation of "legendary" status.

a whole lie where did you even get that from?
He had hit R&B/ Hip Hop duets with Ashanti, J Lo and Lil Mo
That crossed over because the genre was popular at the time but POP he was not. His beginning in the game was rapping with Jay and DMX and his albums are filled with more street sounding records

pop artist
Not pop singer
The same way Drake is a pop artist
But he's not a pop rapper or some shit like g easy or whatever that girl name is :dead:
Whoa
How didn't ja rule influence drake and future?!,!!:!:!:'mm
he def did..
even if it isn't directly
Ton is a liar
Explain how
Ja Rule wrote all of his shit and Irv and 7 produced most of it.
yall going too far with the "he had good writers' thing cause he def wrote his own shit
Everyone with a damns hit inspires the girls huh

jjjjjhjk
Twi' I dunno
Apart of me feels like she fell off too hard and too soon. She gives me more nostalgia act.
When I think icon I dunno why my mind goes to being instantly recognizable..influential..longevity and consistency.
Are those requirements?

Then again anything flies in the Hip-Hop community. If Nip, xxx, J. Cole, Vert, Kendrick, Fut, Boosie, etc. are all icons/legends already then fucking Ja is too, damnit :letsmessfag:
