she was on the show saying she's sick of talking about colorism
and that everyone loves everyone , we're all the same and blah blah blah
and the white gor chin checked her a bit by leting her know there is value in the convo because some people are still held back because of their skin tone. its a real issue
not a damn figment of people's imaginations.
not a damn white woman schooling you on an issue that is very specific to ur own community
eve couldn't do anything but nod because there wasn't much to argue with.
kinda sad. and of course sheryl underwood was clapping for Eve and completely on board with her mess

Dissapointing response from Eve, but she is lightskinned. She probably got triggered the same way white people do when you mention racism.

they were really just sitting there looking UNCOMFORTABLE and speechless.
a lot of black people just love jumping on the racism mess cuz its easy and trendy
(although still worth talking about and addressing)
but bring colorism teas into the convo and people back away and start tryna push it back under a rug. stop it
Some people pl le just get uncomfortable talking about topics like thi SD. You can tell they were glossing over the MESS. Yeah those women made it and broke through but to what height? How many others didn't?
But all of that is neither here nor there tbh, in my opinion. I have a different stance on all that, that may sound harsh to the black community.
i really don't like the talk at all

I'm rewatching the video and I'm disgusted.
This is very disappointing to hear from Eve..
I guess my plight is the blacks that feel like our "allies"..
that we've come so far so let things go..
I face this stance on a lot of black topics and typically it's around blacks who have "made it".. are "wealthy".. or rich or have been the exception.
the sad truth is this is still and issue and it will always be an issue..
it is so much larger than Beyonce... fact is beyonce is extraordinarily talented .. and had a family that was gonna make sure she was who she is today regardless..
but there are so many examples in different fields where color shade has been the deal breaker for them..
yes we have had some examples of darker women excelling but if you compare it to the light skin women who have catapulted the industry's it literally sums up as small as a crumb..
one or two girls per era.. working 5x harder than their lighter toned/European contemporaries..
this colorism conversation def irks me/drains me but it is no time better than the current time to discuss and face harsh truths.. there are thousands of brown and dark girls who haven't been afforded the same career and opportunities because of their appearance.. we can't make it go away by assuming that because we are suddenly seeing more representation that it has been healed.

but sle has a point in "divide and conquer"
although its not the discussion and attempts to dismantle colorism that is whats dividing the gorls.
it's been divided since willie lynch purposely and skillfully wrote a letter to slave masters that was intended to divide blacks based on small differences among one another.
the ROOTS of colorism with blacks in america are definitely a divide and conquer mess.
the divide has already been accomplished.
talking about it, trying to figure out how we can overcome it and attempting to dismantle is not.

You still NEED to be TALENTED as fuck.
But "skin tone" is an element, not the whole picture.
https://www.instagram.com/p/ByavKLUl6_C/
Bey has outlasted the white girls from her era and now they are trying to diminish her hard work and dedication with this divide and conquer game. Im clocking it for what it is.
Lauryn hill wouldnt have made the huge splash she did if being darkskin and nappy headed was an issue.
Brandy and her braids wouldnt have been at least twice as popular as monica n mya were.
Mary j blige wouldn't have been much more successful than faith.
No matter how you gørls slice the cake. Talent pushes through. Hard work pushes through.
Nothing is just giving to anyone of color just because.
Eve is also married to a white man. I wonder if her perspective is "coloring" her judgement.

No eve cane up in an era where lauryn hill was the most popular artist in the world beating madonna on the charts and at the awards
Where foxy brown had several mainstream endorsement deals.
So in her actual industry experience dark skin hasn't held anyone back.
Stop trying to alter her reality when she actually has first hand experience.
Yall basically want to award dark skin mediocrity like they reward white mediocrity
Yall want kelly to have all these things she did not work hard for nor has the talent to obtain.

I'll just say all of that is true and facts but most can break out of it ONLY if they are conditional mentally for it. It's hard to explain but we are powerful creatures, there has been plenty of blacks throughout history that has transcended their color but unfortunately this effects most mentally that leaves a mark on them forever that they never overcome, which in turns keeps them bound by it. If that makes sense.
