I think a lot of people do what she did. I mean it's the American "justice" system.

She just got caught in the mess.

If there was evidence of her using her influence to help a family member, she definitely deserved to be punished for it.

It's not like she was given a life sentence. Sucks that her career is down the drain, though.
Whoops. I meant to ask if the conviction itself was justified, not the sentence.

QuoteThe case stems from the former judge's brother, Stephen Hunter, who worked as a youth corrections officer. Stephen Hunter allegedly struck a young offender on the job on July 7, 2013, leading to the officer's boss to recommend his firing.

Tracie Hunter improperly demanded and received documents about the teen and passed them on to her brother, prosecutors said.

Tracie Hunter, who in 2010 became the first African American elected to Hamilton County's Juvenile Court, has always insisted her prosecution was politically motivated.

"I violated no laws, I did not secure a public contract, I did not secure employment for my brother who worked for the court for about seven years before I was elected judge. They need to drop these unrighteous and I believe unlawful charges against me."

Might be worth reading the full article on this one. I assumed her brother was into some real MESS, but apparently not:

QuoteA former Ohio judge had to be dragged out of court by a bailiff this past week after she refused to be arrested following a controversial sentencing.

Footage of the incident shows former judge Tracie Hunter going limp after a judge upheld her six-month sentence for improperly passing on information to her brother in a job dispute. The courtroom in Cincinnati can be seen descending into chaos as her supporters protested the sentence overall and the indignity in how she was taken out of the courtroom.

Hunter, the first elected African American juvenile court judge in Hamilton County, was accused of using her influence to help her youth corrections officer brother, Stephen, after he allegedly struck a young offender on the job on July 7, 2013. The incident led to the officer's boss recommending his termination.

Hunter is said to have improperly demanded and received documents about the teen and passed them on to her brother, prosecutors said. She was convicted in October 2014 of having an unlawful interest in a public contract, but remained free while she pursued appeals in both state and federal court.

"I violated no laws, I did not secure a public contract, I did not secure employment for my brother who worked for the court for about seven years before I was elected judge. They need to drop these unrighteous and I believe unlawful charges against me," Hunter told NBC affiliate WLWT in Cincinnati on Sunday.

But the appellate judge disagreed when he sentenced her on Monday. Many are calling his decision racist,

Since then, she has filed a formal inmate grievance, alleging that being dragged from the courtroom "aggravated a serious pre-existing medical condition to my neck, back, and legs. It was a use of force that also caused degradation and dehumanization and was broadcast across the world."

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Department said it is investigating her allegations.

Whatever mess he was in she should've let his lawyers handle it.

When you pass the bar you take an ethical code. She violated that code by meddling.

Stupid she didn't realize that being a double minority and land that job they were going to try and test her. She crumbled and as predicted they are throwing the book at her.

See: Kalief Browder's story

A lot of them are no different than cops when it comes to feeling they're untouchable.

And I can only imagine that feeling is x1000 when big sis is sitting as a judge somewhere

I do believe her being a Black woman in her position was more than enough reason for someone to blow the whistle on her.

But once that whistle was blown, they had no choice but to prosecute her.
Right but was the whistle accurate? I'm just looking for evidence that she did what she was accused of..

She did something against what's allowed by the system. Someone in her position should not be able to get away with it. The system is already corrupt in so many places as it is, don't need any special treatment elsewhere.

It would've still happened if she was white and got caught.

Its way harder for judges. There's no suspension, warnings or any of that mess. Once you violate the code you are done.

If she was a lawyer she could've gotten a suspension or a stern written warning or something.

And I'm sorry, but as a judge that deals with the target group her brother was in a legal mess against..she should've never meddled. It makes her look bias and incompetent.

Her brother had way less to lose than she does.

She made a mistake and unfortunately it has cost her (a lot)

But as said and acknowledged by those with their heads on straight as a double minority in a position of power she should've been on her p's and q's.

It's because she's black, simple as.
A black woman in judicial power is an insult to those white men

After becoming very familiar with Kalief Browder's story not very long ago, it just rubbed me the wrong way to see what her brother was accused of.

A lot of the corrections officers have been caught doing unbelievable shit. Including forcing male inmates to give them head

They didn't believe one inmate's claims until one person (who actually did believe him) helped him by setting up hidden cameras in the room where the C.O. would usually meet him for the mess.

He came into the room, started playing with the inmate's crotch and then took down his own pants before they concluded they had enough and busted in with the gotcha gotcha mess.

The footage was chilling because you actually saw the mess go down as opposed to reading about it.
OMG sssdsdsdsdsdsd

where's the lank
