QuoteWe knew that following the success of the box office hit, Get Out, we'd see more from comedian-turned-director Jordan Peele. Carving an entirely new path in filmmaking adjoining art and social awareness, he's back to produce a series called "Lovecraft Country" set in the 1950s Jim Crow South.
Also joining the production team is creator of WGN's 'Underground', Misha Green and director of Lost, J.J. Abrams.
'Lovecraft Country' is a series adaptation of a novel based in the Jim Crow South. The main character takes a road trip in search of his missing father and encounters his father has actually been taken captive. Perhaps by modern-day slave owners? (No need to spoil it so early)
A few years ago, this kind of subject matter, in film and television alike, was uncharted and perhaps forbidden territory. Now, with Peele's ingenious fusion of social injustice and horror coupled with Green's phenomenal hit series chronicling the plight of slaves, we may have ourselves a new trend. Whatever it is, we love it and look forward to the flourishing of this new genre!

Lord, I'm so sick of slave mess but I'm assuming there will be a twist to the series otherwise
:udontlookok:
HBO is hellbent on showing racist bs. They tried to get a show about the Confederacy/modern slavery made until everyone cussed them out.
Hbo ain't got shit poppin after Game Thrones cut itself out the picture. Will this be another fumble after that retarded Oprah MJ doc that got pulled? We'll see lmao!
Does he have to make everything about race/slavery? I mean, his mess usually slays but....

I felt the same way about underground. I watched the first season and yea it was good but watching a slave mess EVERY fckn week........nah, bruh. I'll definitely attempt tho

i can't stand vonc
It's Jim Crow south, so post-slavery. Racists whiter and monsters, probably. The issue is whites fetishize black bodies being abused.

Yea, it said 1950s but that lil piece about the father being taken captive and POSSIBLY being a modern slave mess was what i was going off of. It probably won't be LEGIT slavery but black people being treated like second class citizens, and because it's a horror show, killed. We'll see tho
I think the whites will be the monster villains but I won't be supporting. :overit:

You atleast have to watch the initial episode to see what it's gonna give
🙄🙄🙄
Excited tbh
The show will probably be good tbh. It's just the backdrop and tone that the show is grounded in. Underground was a really great show but I just had no interest to watch the 2nd season...........tho I probably would've at some point. When I found out it was cancelled, I no longer had reason to

And I would just like to see black people in a different light on television - and STILL get the recognition. Enough already.
