Family usually sees the best in their loved ones. So I have to assume that I would initially be in denial when I heard something like this -- unless I had already drawn my own conclusions about them beforehand, which were similar to the accusations that were being thrown at them.
I'd ride for my family and wait to hear and/or see the evidence. But I'd make sure they knew how disappointed I was.
It's fucked up that she has to be dragged into this. But then again it's only getting publicity because of who she is.

Her money could be tied up in investments and other things. She might not have had the liquid cash at hand or it could have been quicker to just put up assets.
Here's the deal with legal matters involving bail: Most people put up collateral in case he skips out on bail or pull a failure to appear mess out. That's why. I saw it first hand happen to my mother, that's why I don't really use my little brother. My mother put up cash straight out of her emergency fund to bail him out and he pulled a failure to appear mess out and she lost that money 4K in cash. That's why he's doing 7 years in prison and she cries every night over that.
