Americans could get a check for $1,000 or more in the coming weeks, as political leaders coalesce around a dramatic plan to try to prevent a worse recession and protect people from going bankrupt.
The idea took off Monday when Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) called for every American adult to receive a $1,000 check "immediately" to help tide people over, until other government aid can arrive. By Tuesday, there was bipartisan support for the idea, including from President Trump. The White House even suggested the amount could be more than what Romney said, an acknowledgment of how big the economic crisis is becoming.
"We're looking at sending checks to Americans immediately," Mnuchin said, adding that Trump wants checks to go out "in the next two weeks."

If people live in the projects or have private landlords which most poor people do. Some don't even have access to internet just the free Obama phones.

NY has halted evictions until further notice
....other states have as well. Which will at least let renters breathe a bit
California has put a stop on foreclosures for the time being...I think that'll begin to spread to other states as well

i think what you were trying to say is, why doesn't America do like the foreign countries and suspend bills and rent until the crisis is over. The government can then give a smaller stimulus package to those companies, and the companies that are supporting their workers with continued pay.
that's what you really meant.
Which country has suspended bills?
France only suspended taxes and rent for business owners.
whoops!
disregard that ....

The range is supposed to be between $1,000 - $6,000; however, the stipulations are as follows:
1. Must be at least 18 years of age
2. Income for 2019 cannot exceed (ceiling) $85,000, although they are still debating the benchmark
3. There will be a specific amount that you must have made ex. $12,000 (floor); however, they are still working on that number as well.
Either way it's still something to give those who will truly benefit from it. Thankfully, I will not be financially impacted by this shutdown; however, I'll graciously use the funds as a student loan payment. :plzstop:
