I'll believe it when I see it. This just goes to show you that money ain't what it used to be. Giving every American $1000 when they can't even go out and spend it is stupid

Rent and mortgage is still due.  Lights still have to stay on. It can be used for other things that can't necessarily be bought at Walmart.

Cable/internet may obviously be a different story

sfsfsffs

i can't see states pushing to make sure families have access to all 200 channels + HBO and Cinemax.

:omf:

Possibly internet alone. Like, basic internet
I don't think anyone living in 2020 can say it's a luxury.

Americans could get a check for $1,000 or more in the coming weeks, as political leaders coalesce around a dramatic plan to try to prevent a worse recession and protect people from going bankrupt.

The idea took off Monday when Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) called for every American adult to receive a $1,000 check "immediately" to help tide people over, until other government aid can arrive. By Tuesday, there was bipartisan support for the idea, including from President Trump. The White House even suggested the amount could be more than what Romney said, an acknowledgment of how big the economic crisis is becoming.

"We're looking at sending checks to Americans immediately," Mnuchin said, adding that Trump wants checks to go out "in the next two weeks."
