The vocal arrangements of this song reminds me of that song she did with Esthero called Believer ..where the subtleties of her vocals really stand out. What sounds like a slight whisper or a coo is more powerful than a belt or a full on run...and makes the message of the song really stand out. Just so much emotion. I can tell she was really in her feelings when they recorded this. No doubt thinking about her past relationships. Her voice really stands out on songs like this.

Based on Ro James story about recording the song, it seems that the song was pretty much finished and they called up Brandy to hop on it to add her vocals to it. Its a feature, not a duet. Def woulda been nice to hear her do a verse, but I can see why she didnt.
