Title: Ginuwine Speaks on Falling Out with Aaliyah
Post by: ssw4919 on June 30, 2020, 09:45:35 PM
I knew she wasn't speaking to Tim or Missy, but I didn't know Ginuwine was cut off as well.   :uhh:

I'm sure Barry was behind all this.  :fuming:

Business can ruin friendships, but you can tell that their group still had love for each other.

I honestly don't think it was that deep. Aaliyah didn't seem like someone that's holding grudges. And also, she was so busy in her last few months.

But meh overall. I don't think it's that deep.

Her and Ginuwine were never really close to begin with.
Timbaland was possessive and jealous over his muse.

Missy, probably suffered whatever Timbaland did at the hands of Barry and his shady business. Not being paid, etc. Li was probably stuck in the middle and that's why they didn't submit a lot of work for her 3rd mess, I mean if they weren't getting paid correctly I understand.  So yeah probably just nuances of mixing friendships and business. Li was def put in a position to straddle the fence but sis has to keep it moving, keep working. I think it all just happened too fast and a mere falling out (which happens to all friends at some point) didn't get a chance to be resolved

I don't think it was that. Liyah was fine with Timberland not doing the album but Barry wanted it. She was pushing for MTAW very hard for second single and even included I Care 4 U on the album. It's all just so strange and doesn't make sense.

The 2 new songs he did for the album probably were only submitted on the strength of friendship or even marking his "territory." Yeah I'm not getting paid correctly but Aaliyah's my friend and I HAVE to be involved in some way.... going back to that possessive nature.

I wonder what they all fell out about

One of the red album producers said Missy and Tim fell out with Barry over money.  I don't think they were speaking over business issues.  Remember that Tim initially refused to be on the album (so did Missy).  Tim relented at the last minute and gave her the songs she included.  Aaliyah was committed to going in a different direction from them musically, and relied on other producers.

Rumor was she was planning to leave him soon.

My point exactly. Liyah didn't care for Tim being apart of the album. The album was done, they submitted it but Barry felt Tim was missing and wanted that sound cause Butta and them had great songs but nothing single worthy.

Aaliyah was the one that picked and took a chance on Tim/Missy so it make sense that she wanted to switch it up next album. She was always a trendsetter and experiment with different things.

No, Tim was standing his ground about not getting his proper coin and gave in at the last minute because in his mind "what's an Aaliyah album without Timbaland?" He HAD to be a part of it. He put the money issue aside and got on the album. They gave Resolution the Talk About Our Love Kanye West, "swoop in for the hot producer name" save. It had nothing to do with Aaliyah "not caring" for Tim being on it, if he was refusing, the show had to go on and THATS why she ventured out to other creatives to record the bulk of the album 22 hours away from everyone else

No, she was 22 hours away because she was filming Queen of the Damned. Tim and Missy wasn't up to be locked in Australia or whatever they was. Butta, Static took their stupid behinds out there not knowing when they was getting paid lol. They talked about that recently

RECORDING – TIMBALAND CONTRIBUTES TO ALBUM
With the majority of the album completed in Australia already, it seemed very unlikely that Timbaland was going to appear on Aaliyah's project. It wasn't until the very last minute that Aaliyah reached out and convinced Timbaland to join the project, despite his differences with Background.Tim Barnett: "We went back to New York and did them in either Sound King or Manhattan studio. We did them right after the New Year. Part of the problem was Timbaland and Missy weren't even going to be on the album because of problems with Blackground. Aaliyah talked Tim into producing records for the album, so Timbaland did it out of love for Babygirl."SINGLE SELECTIONBlackground had some very important decisions to make as the album was ready to be finalized. After spending a couple of weeks in Australia and also a couple of studio sessions with Timbaland, the label had to decide which song they wanted out as the first single.Rapture: "Over the last week before they closed the album and picked the songs, Timbaland came on board. Timbaland was so busy that he wasn't able to do his songs until the last week and they didn't know if he was going to make it in time for him to do it, so the first single was going to be "Loose Rap". But when Timbaland did his records, because they had that connection, they decided the first single had to be a Timbaland record and that's how "We Need a Resolution" came about."https://youknowigotsoul.com/aaliyah/amp (https://youknowigotsoul.com/aaliyah/amp)

Which means he stole them.  The original writers were unpaid and uncredited.

I Care 4 U is particularly egregious because he made very little change to the sound.  And that was one recorded during OIAM.  I wonder if copyright holder died or something.   :omgwatshappening:

So weird that the original songwriters didn't sue. Or atlease it never came to light.

D

Yea.... I don't think it was that deep. I also recall it being said that she n Ginuwine weren't even close like that. :dead:

Timbaland seems like he'd be creatively controlling for projects and not really interpreting what the artist is really trying to go for. I could see Aaliyah politely sitting him to the SIDE.

Yeah G said they only saw each other at the crew get togethers or business. I think because she was so young and the R Kelly mess. He didn't want to be apart of that because people would glue them together.

They look very good together and I'm 100% something would have happened lol.

Stolen songs? He sampled just like Kanye and all the other producers. It was part of the hiphop culture.

It's crazy because growing up, we all thought Aaliyah and him were dating because of the OIA video. And I didn't know all this background about her project. wow.

You have to clear samples and give credit.  He did not.

So, he stole them.

I don't even think IC4U counts as a sample.  That's more of a copy/paste mess.   :dead:

Yeah, I remember thinking back then that they'd be a cute, dancing couple with beaut' kids.   :dead:

I don't think people realized how old he was back then.

This was a good ass interview... for anyone who's into the Supafriendz or a og Ginuwine fan it's def a good one... wish he had a good team around him to keep him relevant musically but he'll thrive off of tours though

Yeah they leaked a tape of everyone in the superfriends a couple years ago. This was before Mis and Tim. It was DeVon, Ginuwine, Tweet, Playa and some other people.

I honestly feel aaliyah would've went full actress and did a soundtrack song here and there. Especially seeing how big the movies she was lined up to do turned out.
!!!!!! I simply just don't see her being this "bigger than Beyonce" girl. I feel like she would've refocused fully into acting and drop music here n there. I think she would've maintained high level relevancy, unlike the other 90s girls, but more in the route of film... and giving a look. She'd slay a Met Gala mess.

I could see all the current mega rappers (Kendrick, Drake, ect.) wanting a major collab with her.
