the gorls seem to be torn on this in the comments :
some are saying, "she just putting yall onto game!"
and others are dragging her for the whole thing
but i'm side eyeing her...
not cuz of the advice she's giving, because i actually know people who have switched up their names to be more "simple" for the corporate space
the advice she's giving are things i have seen done
for me it's the language she's using.
"your HOOD name"... comes off very condescending/classist
" WE are judging you." ..."we" to me implies that she aligns with what's going on and is part of it. as opposed to saying "THEY are judging you, and I'M here to let u know what the tea is so u can get in the door sis".
little things like that can really reveal a tea.
and she needs to fix those lashes .
She could've/should've worded it in a less offensive way.
She's preaching

but maybe it's a good thing that she was edgy with it
the gorls love MESS so this will spread to more people
and the advice she's giving is actually good and it's real.
there's actually something to take from it and use
corporate survival/conformity for us is kinda an actual thing

im wondering what kinda company she works for tho
where she'd feel comfortable getting in front of camera talking about this mess
sfnfsnfsnsfnsfnnsfnssf
thats like a huge fuckin no no.
she better be fuckin the CEO
goddess is in need of a few HR tips herself it seems. :disgusted:
She honestly said it more politely than I would have
I just know she's a Boomer or older Gen X. This is the type of advice & tone they give. 🥴
Advice, common sense 🍅🍅

But who really didn't know this though? I've heard this my entire life. :dead:
I remember Condoleeza Rice saying that her elders would always tell her she'd never get a job with that name.

ppl with those names know what the deal is
the PSA should've been to tell these racist crackers that Taeron'esha is no more hard to say than Vladimir Scharipotisz or whatever
The gorls don't know this already?
Yes it's sad that you have to assimilate and use some cookie cutter Caucasian name, but it's reality.
And this really goes for any "ethnic" sounding name.
I dunno seems like a cooperate sector only thing

!!!
i def know of a Juan who switched his name to "Paul" with the quickness
and a Woon Chin Hoo who changed his mess to "Tony"
it's really sad if u sit to think of it but it's a White country
not much different than me having to leave my Southside talk in...Southside during business hours
:omf:
just one of the many ways we must blend in to get our checks
sssssss right
I'm sure Sunkoonpak Dieterong sticks out as well
I hate that we do ourselves like this :plzstop:

u meant corporate right?
if so i agree
i don't think it's so much a super common sense thing
i was actually surprised when i found people actually switching their names
but not every person with an ethnic name is gonna switch it up
a lot of them will stand in their mess and just move forward
having one of those names doesn't automatically mean you'll hit a brick wall
Kamala is actually a very ethnic sounding name
it's so crazy
anything we do that they can't copy ... it ends up being deemed hood, and anything they can appropriate, especially for money, they suck it dry
how much more self-centered can a race collectively be :uhh:
How do you fight to dismantle the system by telling people to contort themselves in it?
those names just speak to black creativity
i always thought the Daquans and Loquan, etc. names were super cool growing up
i side eye the gorls who walk around super proud of having a more "proper" name
like sis u do know that the only reason it's so proper and "fancy" is because it's white and plain as fuck right? :omf:
u won't have to change ur name for a resume so that's a plus but don't flatter urself

Yh I meant corporate mdmdmdmdmkd
I feel like this is more geared for those high powered roles like finance, banking, government , administration, private sector roles ect ect
I work in Health and it's really more about qualifications and experience than rather than what your name is giving

Bitch I was just about to say this
The Asians and Indians don't give a fuck snsjsjsj
I couldnt get past those lashes
I think this is really just something very racist whites and shame based blacks practice
everyone else is gucci on the name
some even like fulfilling a black quota and will often hire a shontiqua just based off the name
so
blacks talk about this more than whites tho so hmmm
this kinda pisses me off that she posted it tho as a "helpful hints tee hee" mess :uhh:
the fact is "names" were taken from us by force, that we can't ever get back because they destroyed
names beat out of us for generations, until we were all named jackson, johnson, smith, brown, williams :uhh:
like ... does she think her ancestors would've been calling her Sarah Johnson :-/
parts of me believe that blacks are subconsciously recreating those words and names but it's so mixed with other languages now
they did a study a long time ago to determine whether Ebonics has its roots in the ancestry of its speakers
and I think they concluded that it did

i wonder if she's actually an HR person
i'd assume someone in HR would know that going on camera to let people know their company discriminates against black people could be....grounds for termination
So, does this only apply to black people with these type of names?
You turning away Xing Hau or Aarav because they names are a bit too difficult to pronounce?
:diddraispoot:
"WE are judging you"
is telling as fuck to me.
stand with them a bit then, sis
people tell on themselves and dont even know it
I'm not taking "professional" advice from someone with eyelashes like that :udontlookok:

This is a PR nightmare for any company. She probably works in HR as an assistant or knows someone who actually works in HR.

This may be the case for some recruiters, BUT a lot of companies are trying to UP their representation numbers. Companies actually want to hire Blacks and Latinos. They're seeking out identifiers such as someone's name or LinkedIn photo to determine if they're Black to interview them.

Thats what i said lol
this is black guilt talking more than anything
She definitely just lost that position. Whatever company she works for will cut ties. She's a liability to them now. Somebody might even hit them with a discrimination suit.
