Title: really, funk'?
Post by: stillpretty on February 27, 2021, 01:15:46 PM
my mouth is literally dropping

so many things...from him calling her shrek with a wig on
to referencing his "african friends" who are pretty...giving me every bit of "im not racist i have a black neighbor! lolz"

pretty sure his family is chock full of women who look just like OG
are they all ugly?
first he's looking down on the ghetto after getting evicted for doing drugs and stealing washing machines and dryers from apartments
now he's letting unambiguously black African women know how ugly they are.

he's certainly painting a very vivid picture of who he really is

they're drop kicking his ass in the comments.

this is what black women have to deal with.
it's OK to have an opinion on someone's attractiveness but the WAY you approach it can say a lot about u.

I use Funky downe but this was fucked up.
Even if they're not handling OG that way due to colorism, they're still pushing her out due to her looks.

im not super familiar with OG

But some of the language he's using is suspect

And for him to sit up and tell black women when and when they aren't actually victims or colorism is really not his place ... especially considering his platform

He's ultimately pushing the late and tired "it's not colorism ur just ugly" mess that a LOT of people use to dismiss black women when they speak on their plight

And it's disgusting

OG doesnt even know if shes a victim of it. She thinks that if youre darkskin, and you side with a lightskin (on whatever issue) over another darksin, that you're colorist.

from what i know from his vid, it seems that OG explicity stated that she felt they were not only colorists, but there were elements of featurism

featurism is real, and Funky is brushing it off as a non-issue. from what ive seen so far in the vid

the dark skinned woman who is assumed to be mixed with black and "exotic" is many times NOT treated the same as  the dark skinned unambiguously black woman.

they don't get the "ooooh  ahhh! what are you ? what r u mixed with?  :ohwow: wow wow wow you're so intriguing to me!!  :tellmemoreireallycare: "

they get people assuming that them wearing their hair in its natural state is some form of political statement, among other things.

they reached out to Tatyana Ali to participate in that "light girls" documentary mess and when I first heard her share that info I was like wat?  :uhh: she's brown. why are they asking her to be a part of that? goddess is light skinned now? i missed that memo.

but then she went on to explain they asked her because of her perceived "european influence" (their words not hers) and how that experience she had could be useful.  and theres nothing european about tatyana to me either sdsdsd shes not givin me vanessa williams. but i get what they meant. referencing what they consider to be a mixed race appearance.

imma need him to thank just a bit further.

funky always came off as smart to me but he's really showing his ignorance. brushing off featurism, telling a black women "its not colorism u just ugly", as he references how a wig looks on her and makes her look like shrek.

just the fact that he's pushing this super harmful "u just ugly dassit" message alone is harmful. OG and her specific situation is the SMALLER picture here. and i hope people watching do NOT think he speaks for all gay black men as a whole.

if he wants to speak on something go show people how to be an elitist with bad credit, no assets and a lengthy eviction record. hes good at that. leave black women tf alone

Kristen was beefing with her daughter's "grandfather" (Byron) and his fiancé (Cece) because they didn't wanna spend time with her daughter. After much back-and-forth, Byron got sick of being called out for being a deadbeat grandfather so he stopped tiptoeing around the situation end explained that he wasn't even his biological son but he stepped in for a few years when they were younger and still somewhat maintained a relationship with them even though he was no longer with their mother. OG confronted Kristen because she was defending Cece and basically said they weren't even his kids so why are forcing this relationship?

funk actually said in his video that he feels they were acting like the "pretty girls" in high school towards OG

So there may be more truth to wat ur saying

Sometimes people react to a vibe they feel from others. Condescension isn't just Limited to words that are explicitly expressed. It can def be an energy as well. people can pick up on that . Sometimes it may just be insecurity and sometimes there may be actual condescension in the air

Could explain OGs mess towards them

I don't understand the shock value of this, when this board is full of gay men who give their opinions on women's physical appearance every day. They provide unsolicited opinions on 20/30/40/50 year old Black women as if their sisters, aunts or mother look any better.

Theres a difference between an 13 year old calling someone ugly and a 33 year old.

This goes back to my OP

Which clearly states there's a difference between simply talking about someone's attractiveness and someone SPECIFICALLY diving into a conversation about colorism and featurism ,all while telling a black woman she looks like shrek with a wig on, invalidating her feelings regarding her experience and dismissing her.

I challenge some of the girls to THINK a bit further .

I personally don't make a habit of going around calling people "ugly" or moving to dictate what they should do with their bodies .... and I will definitely address what I feel could be anti-blackness when and how I see fit .

i agree.

But even if it's not colorism, there is definitely a difference of treatment. Especially when you see other bitches on this show throw things and put their hands on people and go not reprimanded.

OG hasn't done ANY of that but yet had to sit on a whole other stage at the reunion  because the same bitches that's been violent felt "threatened". It's BS and being obtuse about it on purpose is disgusting to me cause it's CLEAR. People just need to say "Im biased and l don't like OG so l don't give a damn about how she's treated"

i think funky is at the very least grossly irresponsible for pushing that "it ain't colorism or featurism u just ugly!" Mess . That's very damaging and he should know better . It goes beyond OG . That is something people have used for years to dismiss black women and silence them.

That's at the very least.

he doesn't have a responsibility to represent this situation as colorism even if it isn't just because colorism EXISTS. we need to be able to judge these situations on a cases by case basis.

And many times it's the language
that can get someones anti blackness and/or self hatred clocked

theres a difference between someone saying "Hmmmj don't think Azealia is all that pretty . She ain't fuckin cute ."

and "That monkey burnt crisp bitch ain't cute ."

once animals and other teas start getting involved it can easily go from sharing a harmless opinion to me side eyeing the fuck outta somebody.

Bruce in here making it JUST about not thinking someone is pretty is simplifying the hell out of this.

the phrase is true in THIS instance. thats the point.

ppl often say blk women are being "aggressive" when they are not at all, but in fact are simply standing up for themselves. THATS wrong.

but when a black woman is ACTUALLY being aggressive, im not going to shy away from calling a spade a spade because "oh! they be using that to diminish black women!"

yea they do in many instances, but im not going to let that stop me from calling out a blatantly agressive woman for wgat sge is in THIS instance

I just went to OGs insta

And was expecting to see a bunch of MESS based on the way funky was talking about her

"She needs to stop wearing straight hair! Looks a mess! Wear natural hair and African head wraps only!!!"

But she's actually slaying in a few of these pics and looks well put together

Because she's African and unambiguously Black she can't have fun with her hairstyles?

She switches it up

She's a nice lookin African girl from what I see

but I will say someone's personality can deduct major points from their overall attractiveness

im looking at her thru a lens of someone who isn't super familiar . But considering that most of funkys commentary was just about her looks , and how she should never wear straight hair and  apparently looks like shrek with a wig on ... that's what I'm focusing on

that alone should tell funky something else could be brewing

But instead of realizing that he's calling her shrek with a wig on as he dismisses her concerns.

I hope his black female followers continue lighting his ass up in those comments . That like/dislike ratio on this video lets me know they're not having a minute of his seemingly willful ignorance .

all that can be said is "she's a bitch". Ok and so was the rest of them. They've all been messy, been aggressive and some have even been violent but none of them have been ostracized and treated as a pariah like OG has. That's my issue.

Tami, Evelyn, and even Malaysia can be violent and make threats and nobody feels threatened. But OG tells someone she's break their jaw and now we scared and have to send OG to the holding cell to film the reunion. Ridiculous

he called Blu Ivy "ugly" and ended up apologizing for it

I suspected it but now I think I have enough evidence (between the comments about Blu Ivy, the "ghetto", and this OG mess) to just flat out say it.

well if there's even just  one experience that OG had from a woman who is within this group from this show that was EXPLICITLY racist/colorist, how is it unreasonable for OG to conclude that there is even more underlying racism, featurism and colorism with others on the show as well?

How is it fair to say that it may all just be in her own head , a figment of her imagination? And that what she experienced is only because she's "just ugly"?

... when shes actually had explicitly racist/colorist experiences as a result of her participation in this same show?

What do u think of them calling her a monkey?

no one called her a monkey

ev used a lauging monkey emoj' and i can see why she would feel that gave colorist teas

so she can say she thinks ev is a colorist

but groups colorist!

because that one person has been rag tagged about that to the point of death threats, and everyone else are different people?

I see .

So it's only colorist/racist if someone speaks it

Imagery doesn't count as a message

So when the crazy stans took this pic of kelly morphed it into a monkey , that wasn't colorist or racist . Cuz they didn't actually say it.

Whats OG's unspoken colorism experience?

That was for oph

who said no one ever called OG a monkey

There's  more than one way to communicate a message :

Yeah, so she was mistreated and ostracized for being the same thing the other women are like l said she was.

oh and let's also ignore the blatant favoritism as well
yea... and OG isn't the first girl either

Tami, Meeka, Kenya and Royce were all ostracized at a point too.... for things that would slide if Evelyn happened to do them

Hm What is the common denominator here

Exactly, but we aren't the ones thinking logically. The shit is right THERE and it's been happening.

These bitches been bullies from day one and it took one person to stand to the bullies and now we threatened

the common denominator is that ev is their FRIEND and those other girls were NOT. so YEA they let her get away with mess just like they let tami violent ass get away with mess. its a friendship double standard, not a color double standard.

bcccccc literally no girl ever, as badly as they were treated, has reported back colorism! NOR have they come forward since SlowG's allegations to say yea they were colorist to me tew. its just not there bbys

No what u literally said was "no one called her a monkey but I see why she took it that way <3"

wat I'm letting u know is that there's more than one way to call someone a name .

u seem to be unaware of that.

Stop placing the blame on OGs perception of an event  and call shit wtf it is .

That Evelyn was best friends with Shaunie, an executive producer? So the whole "Evelyn can do things I cant" isnt because Evelyn is lightskinned?
no

That doesn't work for my narrative babe. Shaunie is a colorist Beast and I will take her down :unbothered:

I watched parts of it and it seems that he said OG is ugly because of her Euro-styling but she looks great in her traditional mess. If that's what he's saying, I ageee..

It like those Princess Leia buns she wore etc.
