its a part of black american history
you'd think every new major movie release was about slavery , the way people complain once one pops up
just opt to not watch the new "slave movie" that comes out every couple years and keep it moving .
if anything if we're ever to see reparations its kinda good that the legacy and brutality of slavery is never forgotten and is FRESH as possible on people's minds.
maybe we won't see it in our generation or lifetime but we have to keep future generations in mind. it's not all about us here and now.
the Cherokee aren't begging people to stop telling stories about the trail of tears.
jews aren't anywhere begging for people to stop talking about those gas chambers they were shoved into.
slavery obviously isn't a very glamorous topic to discuss, it doesn't make us feel good and warm inside
but it's not something to shy away from. it's part of our legacy as black americans .
will i sit down and watch it every day for fun?
no. it can be triggering.
will i encourage people to STOP telling stories of my ancestors?
no.
what they went through should NEVER be forgotten.
broadcast it. put it ALL the way out there.
the more real, and less sugarcoated , the better.
