I think Raven resents the performance of black femininity that Raven Baxter represented and the blur it caused in her personal life.

Yeah something is up with the character and her. She will speak highly of Dr. Doolittle, The Cosby Show, all the rest of her illustrious resume, but I remember she said something about Disney and TSR that gave some shit went down and how she doesn't rock with the character. Raven Baxter def has people applying that to Raven. Look how Cheetah Girls reboot has social media saying they hope she ain't butch in it.

another issue could be that's the one character where she kept her actual first name , which would make it harder for people to differentiate between herself as a person and what was kinda her most popular gig ever.

u can say "That's not Moesha, it's GHan" or "That's not Steve Urkel, it's Jaleel White".

not so much for Raven. if she already feels a personality disconnect from the character that could make her hate it even more

I think her father and Disney were pressuring her to maintain the image of Raven Baxter in her life outside of the show. Raven has always been a stud and hated Raven Baxters outfits and mannerisms.

I can't wait to read her memoir.

I remember one time she said or described how she didn't like being put into the "role model" box over the show a few years ago.
She often makes it sound like it was debilitating. I will be interested to read that Disney chapter and her thoughts on Bill and as she said what she can tell about her life "without being sued."

Dealing with a bunch of white ppl (Disney is white down including the ppl behind TSR) and facing body and ethnicity discrimination while reaching heights that no other Black American child actor ever reached while also being stifled whew must have been a lot for her.

Kind of on this topic, I got immediately why Halle Bailey imo let it be known at the start of TLM that she isn't perfect and not actually a Disney princess. Before the push for her to be seen as perfect and must keep a perfect image started up. It was smart
