i dont agree with the Raven character being "Black af" especially not in the context in which he described her

to me if someone is saying a TV mess is "Black af" I'm thinking Tyler Perry teas. just iconically and unapologetically a Black cookout mess owt, made for Black people to consume almost exclusively.

Not Disney's mostly watered down, "safe for everyone" mess

but then again i didn't watch the show a lot. maybe caught 1 or 2 episodes

and Raven didn't really have to LEAN in with "was she Black tho?"

i think it was clear the interviewer was simply expressing how it was nice seeing such a big show on Disney being led by a Black girl.

if that was his experience and how he took Raven, let him have it as a Black person.

that could be why she's facing so much backlash. like gorl we loved seeing representation on TV especially when it was so scarce. let the gorls enjoy and remember the show that way.

Raven was definitely black af. What she wasn't was ghetto asf. The way she carried herself, the things she said, the WAY she said them, etc.  Was unmistakably black and that's OK.  I can't believe I used to really like raven symone,  she's such a disappointment as a person

i really didnt watch the show so those who are super tuned in prob can see the "Black af"-ness ..i was thinking it might have a lot to do with her mannerisms, and those other little -isms that makes Blackness what it is . like u said it doesnt have to be "ghetto".

Joan Clayton was Black af but she wasn't "ghetto".

im just thinking how can anything Disney be "Black af"....but that makes sense if i didn't really watch the show to get IN like the other gorls have

what Raven said makes absolutely no sense if that's the case, and yea it would be weird.

especially with scenes of Raven literally facing racism. there shouldn't be a question if Raven was Black if she was having explicitly/historically Black experiences

IDK what happened in Raven's life and a lot of the child stars have been through some crazy things in the industry
However Raven had been weird about her blackness for a good 10-15 years
I'm thinking it could be because Black are very homophobic and on top that she's with a white girl

Raven will be alright. Social media isn't real. Raven has issues with the character. It's a role that she has spoken less fondly of compared to her other work. Some actors have talked about hating certain characters they played. The public sees "representation" while these actors simply see a role as a job.
