So I also did this DNA test and the results are kind of shocking to me...

Herb.

But in all seriousness, the results you posted are typical of someone of Hispanic descent. They have a lot of Native DNA, but it's more so from MesoAmerica: as in, the first settlers of South America, or Meso Indians. They are not part of the American Indian tribes, such as Cherokee, Lumbee, Cheraw, etc.

They also typically have a generous amount of European and sprinkles of North Africa as well.

This is why I was confused as hell when you told me that you were not hispanic . LOL (I forgot that this screen name belonged to Ifran lol) Had me thinking that my research has been misguided a bit LOL.

Which is why I wanted you to upload to GEDMatch. GED breaks it down further in regard to American Indian vs. Meso Indian, etc. Many hispanics, mainly Puerto Ricans, shy away from claiming their Meso Indian heritage because of its link to Mexico. lol :dead:

You had me ready to go in, I'm mad because I was actually excited to break the code. and help :dead: :dead: I'm serious when I say that I love seeing people discover their roots.

I'm still shocked that you have NA heritage and don't know of it. :dead: And so much of it. :dead: :dead: Are you closer to one side of your family than another? I was raised by mom's side, and my grandmother at that. So I ALWAYS had to hear stories about her mother -- how she raised them, taught them values , how she is using her mother's techniques to raise us
blah blah blah LOL. :dead: So I very well knew who Chief was.

Had I been raised by another side of my family I wouldn't have known much of her or that heritage. Are you close with both sides of your family? Cuz this seems like almost half of you is Native, that is very very close. :uhh: WHich is weird, since you're in Europe. :dead: :dead: I'm trying to connect the dots here.....Where is your family from?
m
Herb are you kind jealous? be honest  :raycharles2urmess:
To be jealous of someone's heritage is to want to be someone besides who you are. And that's silly.  I actually felt sorry that he had so much history, had the receipts, but no connection. To me, DNA results are only such a small speck in the bigger picture. What good are percentages and doses if you are unable to connect how at least some of it relates to you? I felt bad and really wanted to help.

I wouldn't even have taken a DNA test if I didn't have information regarding my family. It confirmed what I already knew. I am a black person with Native heritage. And am very proud of every bit of what makes me who I am.
