What IS it?

Is it really an age thing? Do we really just STAN the music that gave us feels during our developmental years, first cars, first kisses, first Napster downloads, high school bus rides home, childhood songs mom use to clean up to, etc...... then Once you're older, you only "appreciate" good music but you can do without it and only play it once. There is def a connection between the music you heard between the ages of 12-25 and the way you love it

artist development is no longer a thing anymore

Social media is to blame for a lot of this. Back then, you needed a label (which offered artist development) to get you on TV, which was the main way you got attention. Now anyone can get attention, and doing the most for it.

But tbh, even when the substance is there, I still don't think most of us will go BACK to the newer mess as much as we do those old favorites. Even the not so popular or flop albums of the past are MUST listens and get played all the way through TO THIS DAY. I'm talking the Complicateds, the All I Haves, the Complex Simplicities....... They just not doing it today
