I don't understand why they thought the unwed pregnancy would jeopardize every/anything. The lying and cleaning up caused more commotion than just the unwed pregnancy ever would have. Lesson learned.

The girls were taking CONTROL of their sexuality at that time (Britney, X-Tina, etc.).
Bran was trying to grow in a woman. It could've been the career shift she was looking for.
