I saw the movie it wasn't good and she had Aretha mannerisms down but that's about it. Marlon was horrible. Foster was great as always, Mary was funny as Dinah. The movie stops at amazing grace album. the tv miniseries was better imo.

I watched with a friend I was so hesitant but I see why Aretha wanted her. She did her thang she's a good actress but I wished she just lipped Aretha vocals cause ......it sounded like J HUD trying to cover Aretha

There is a WHOLE other generation they could have introduce Aretha's vocals to  the girls shouldn't have to get on YouTube. They missed an opportunity

I'd love to hear Aretha's thoughts on whether or not someone should just lip to her vocals. Sad she's gone

No, it's not you at all. I used to be a fan but there's literally no nuance to her singing. I think she's gotten a lot better and has great moments, like here

Yeah Clive tried to make her the new Whitney at first, but that failed... Jennifer has a very weird successful career bbbvsvvvshd. Jack of all trades, master of none self.

Honestly she's a good actress imma give her that especially in that movie The Inevitable Defeat of Mister & Pete! She played that role well I would like to do more serious roles like this tbh

The TV miniseries LASHED but they rushed the ending.

I'm guessing the budget ran out.

They should have made it 10 episodes instead of 8 cos Aretha LIVED A LIFE hunni.

It was always going to be impossible to fit Aretha's life into a movie. Even the 8 hour mini series couldn't fit everything in.
