Ashanti only own the masters to her new material.

She recently acquire the masters to her debut album thanks to her legal team
because her 20th anniversary next year and it was a pivotal moment in her career but she doesn't own her entire catalog collectively. Her and Irv would have to come to some type of agreement and negotiate for her to have her entire discography.

It'll be interesting to hear the new take on the songs but it'll never live up or be enjoyable as the original recording.

y'all confusing me in here !!

She only owned everything since going independent. i.e. I Got That, Brave Heart album, Say Less.

Her big announcement was she acquire the masters to her debut album thanks to her legal team and negotiating and plans to re-record her debut but still doesn't own her masters to the rest of her major label discography. i.e. Chapter II, Concrete Rose, The Declaration, etc.

im still not understanding the need to re-record if she now owns the masters

ain't this the same thing taylor did because she COULDN'T get her masters mess ?

It'll be more profitable for her in the long run.

Taylor had to because her label wasn't gonna her give her masters at all. They're still making millions upon millions off her discography. Maybe when she hit that 35 year mark she'll get back what's right hers.

Mariah was told Jennifer has eight hours of sleep a night. She cattily laughed: "If I had the luxury of not actually having to sing my songs, I'd do that too."

:roflmao:

Jennifer Lopez should re-record all of her songs and erase all vocals from ghost singers. No more Ashanti, no Christina Milian or that other lady..or credit them correctly as a feature. They should have gotten paid extra to be honest. The laugh on Jenny from the block or that "from the Bronx" is not even her. :plea:

But I still love me some JLO songs, i have revisited some of her old hits and they are still great. I just hear the different voices now that I am aware.

And I get why Ashanti wants to promote her debut album again especially after that TitTok gen z girl Danielle Cohn tried to release Foolish as her new single.

Project started: 2014 Wrapped up: 2024

Significant Discovery: First known Black American family of Kalmyk descent

Takeaways: Be prepared to pivot, even when you think you're on the right track. Be OK with being wrong so you can get things right.

Kalmyks are tribal Mongolic people who settled in Russia. It's estimated that only 300,000 Kalmyk descendants exist worldwide - with only 3,000 in America.

Quote Controversial teen influencer Danielle Cohn says she made a mistake after backlash erupted across her social media channels because people believed she was trying to pass Ashanti's 2002 hit song "Foolish" as her own.
On Saturday, Cohn shared a TikTok asking people to "make a TikTok to [her] song" with audio of her rendition of Ashanti's song.

Cohn's mom and manager, Jen Archambault, told BuzzFeed News her daughter "made a mistake" when she "realized she put 'song' instead of 'cover'" in the caption. Archambault added that they had obtained licenses and permissions from Ashanti's label to cover "Foolish."BuzzFeed News has reached out to Ashanti and her team.

"She is a teenager. ... She made a mistake on a TikTok," Archambault said about Cohn. "I think this is out of hand."Unfortunately for Cohn, people were pissed, and the outrage has only grown over the weekend. Despite the fact that she did properly label her release as a "cover" on YouTube and gave original credits to Ashanti on Instagram, her TikTok caption caused a huge uproar.People are now trolling her, claiming she stole it and butchered it.

Yeah I remember she got dragged
