A Chicago mother was fatally shot on Wednesday (Nov. 24) while visiting a makeshift memorial that marks the place where her 14-year-old son was gunned down days earlier, CBS Chicago reports.

Delisa Tucker, 31, was shot in the chest at the memorial site in Roseland where her son, Kevin Tinker Jr., died on Sunday (Nov. 21) after he was shot multiple times.

The mother of six went there early in the morning to light a candle, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Investigators have made no arrests in either shooting and would not reveal if they believe the shootings are connected.

The teen's father, Kevin Tinker Sr., said his son was walking home from a friend's house when he was shot.

"Some violence found him," Tinker Sr. told CBS Chicago. "He was a good kid. He didn't gang bang. Played basketball. Played on his phone a lot. He liked to play games. He was not a gangbanger at all. He stayed in the house most of the time, with his little brothers and sisters."

An unnamed woman told the Sun-Times, "They were not gang-banging. Kevin was a quiet boy. He was just starting to get out of his shell."

Tucker leaves behind five children, ages 4 and 15. Her loved ones launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the funeral expenses for the mother and son.
