It makes sense now. Looks like a lot of states are now decriminalizing what they describe as "petty theft". It seems like what used to be a felony is now a misdemeanor - as long as the theft is under $1000 , and doesn't involve weapons or bodily injury to anyone.
This could explain why these people are taking their time with their edgy shopping experience. Vvvvvvvvvvvv
I actually think that's fair and makes sense. I mean is $1000 worth of merchandise really worth someone spending a minimum of 5 years in jail ? Especially if no one was hurt or super traumatized by deadly weapons being drawn?
And it will protect a lot of much younger people who do stupid things...and give them an opportunity to turn their life around. Jobs usually ask if you have any felonies on your record before hiring, not so much misdemeanors.
