Hitler was a racist and he is responsible for millions of deaths. He also believed if Aryan people, for example children, would have children with black people the race would get destroyed. (Black people have suffered as well during the Nazi regime. We just don't aways hear about it because the main target were Jews and Roma/Sinti). Many soldiers from the UK, America and Canada for example gave their lives to free us from the Germans. They took over our complete country  (our Queen had to escape), everyone was affected by them. People had to hand in radios, people were forced to work in factories. 

There are stories of Jews having to leave their houses and they were put on a train. They were forced to buy their own train ticket to the concentration camp. Their houses were sold and the money went to the government. We should feel sorry for Jewish people in the WW.

Honestly I feel like this relationship between America and Jewish Israel has been kind of sick (holy war vibes).. and things like the horrible Holocaust could indeed be used to always paint every conflict as antisemitism.

I believe the World War and the politics over there should be viewed as two different things. And I really hate how people who were not even born there want to claim Israel as their holy land and try to chase Palestinian locals who have lived there for ages away. Innocent people, children have died and the Israeli government is responsible.

Yes and politicians are also a big problem because some of them had grandparents that had slaves and I'm so sick of these excuses 'but the slaves liked working there'. Like wtf..very bizarre that they can't fully admit that it was evil.

I have seen a doc about the camps in the USA for Japanese people. The Cats of Mirikitani (2006) about a painter who survived. A lot of people died in those camps and were treated like animals (also children). They were forced to give up their American passport even tho they were born in America. It's just a very very dark history...I'm very happy the Americans helped free us from Nazis but they also destroyed a lot of innocent lives in those camps. It is good to talk about history.. we often hear about the 'heroes' but it is time to educate people on mistakes and dark history as well.

I feel like Whoopi is getting a bit too much backlash. Clearly she was not informed..and she gave an apology. No need to fire or cancel people over everything. This is a good opportunity to educate; I am sure a lot of people and the younger generations have no clue what happened.

they gave her a time out for 2 weeks and recommended she spend that time educating herself before returning right back to that same table where the topic may come up again for discussion.

it's very reasonable and fair . That makes sense .

I hope Whoopi actually does make good use of that time so it will make her an ever better host for the show .

Ahh ok you are right just suspended, I heard some rumors about getting fired. I feel like she needs to come back especially on her platform where they discuss a lot of topics. People should have the freedom to express themselves. 
Maybe it's good for her to take a break or else people will demand her to get off the show. Let's wait for things to calm down.

I even saw her comment as a headline on CNN yesterday. I don't quite understand why they made such a big deal out of it. She is just a host/actress. I mean let's focus on the statements of politicians and Biden instead.

No matter how much ABC may love Whoopi, they have to protect themselves .

Given the temporary 2 week suspension, I think it's clear they feel Whoopi has put them in a position where they MUST take action, but they are trying not to give her the maximum tea possible .

there are actually a LOT of people furious that they didn't go further with it yet - noting that Roseanne (who is Jewish herself) was immediately fired by ABC completely and her entire reboot series canceled for saying a Black person resembled a monkey on Twitter .

Roseannes mess in itself kinda contradicts this whole "but if they were Jewish they could get way with and say anything anything! " mess.

the same company (ABC) threw roseannes flat ass owt to the curb faster than she could say mazel tof.

There are certain groups of people you just need to watch your mouth with if you wanna keep your job . Period

Not because ABC genuinely loves Black folks oh so much, but they will protect their brand.

great point Annie .. Americans put a LOT of expectation on celebs and we tend to look to them for their opinions on mess and put a LOT of weight on them.

we expect them to be leaders and social activists. when in reality many of them simply don't have the range to do more than copy/paste activist catch phrases and recycle mess they've seen others say.

this actually works in Whoopi's favor because without Americans caring so much about what celebs have to say on serious world issues, she wouldn't have a seat at the table to begin with.

BUT this incident is where that actually backfires on her. she finds herself in a situation where she wasn't educated on a situation, approached the convo as if she was talking about it with her friends at brunch ...and made a HUGE mistake with her words.

Many Jewish people around the world  are/were "Israeli"/middle eastern by SUPER deep ancestral origin but that's kinda where it stops

They have more actual ties to eastern europe for centuries and centuries

For people to automatically LUMP those who died in and fled from the Holocaust in to the other mess going on in Israel is crazy to me.
