No shit! I actually attended the premiere in Chicago. Chicago and dreamgirls were broadway shows first and from many years ago. I had no issue with it becoming a musical for the stage, with it becoming a film its basically a remake and we dont need it. The color purple is a film that's been mainstay in black households and still reair on tv like its new its very fresh in our minds.

Dreamgirls was a huge hit on stage but still had a limited reach because of the era it was put out. So the film was needed imo, many people never seen it on stage.
