Halle is playing young Nettie, not young Celie
idk where this conversation about looking like Fantasia or whatever
they're literally not the same characters lol
Maybe if you read you would understand hun. I'm not looking for many to understand on this board tho, its like having a discussion or conversation with a bunch of old hags at a 3rd grade education level.

You can kill the attitude, bitch!
don't be fuckin rudel

A movie musical?

Think "Dreamgirls"
it's basically a film adaptation of the broadway musical based on the book/film

As for Cynthia, I'm glad she didn't get the part
but I remember she was considered and almost a lock to play Celie
but she's currently doing "Wicked" with Ariana, so I'm sure that factored in I'm glad Fantasia got it, it should've been hers from jump

Fantasia's Oscar and career resurgence is coming!
I'm manifesting and making my claim NOW!

I love Halle and all but they couldn't find a dark skinned actress??? And yes, its an issue in Hollywood so it matters. In what world does somebody see Fantasia grown self being sisters w/ Halle?

N

they found a beautiful and talented black woman to play the role

we not finna play the fckn pigment olympics

:disgusted:
WE CAN PLAY THEM because its an ongoing issue. I'm not one to make a big deal about certain things but I'm just pointing it out b/c its clearly a star/money grab thing for them. They would never cast a light skin Celie b/c apparently Celie is supposed to be dark and ugly huh??

again

N

if fantasia dark? no. is fantasia ugly? no. abd tasia ain't but a couple damn shades lighter than halle. and neither are light-skinned. yes, REPRESENTATION is an issue in hollywood. but nit-picking which girl is light or dark ENOUGH to play this or that is dumb and counter-productive. and clearly wasn't a concern for that casting of halle OR fantasia. it's the TALENT that mattered. and they both posess undeniable amounts of it. case closed.
Is Fantasia dark-skinned???? Lol I literally have to laugh at stuff like this. Yes hun, yes she is dark skin? Where is Fantasia's career outside of American Idol, The Color Purple and Black Awards show tributes?

Let's not act like part of Celie and Sophia not being desirable doesn't come from them being dark-skinned and/or full figured woman. You think they would have cast Halle Berry to play Celie or even Tamela Mann to play Sophia? NO

Halle is light-skinned. All the dark skin talented actresses who can sing and are lesser known names couldn't have done this role. If that's the case, they coulda casted Chloe to play Miss Celie.

so yea, like i said halle and tasia are a COUPLE shades apart and u sound dumb here babe. the gors got the roles based on their talent. the end.
Don't insult my intelligence because you have no facts to back up your claims. You can't even answer the question. You know I'm right, carry on

n

google their fckn pictures. and fantasia's career speaks for itself vvvvccccccccccc

yea u just need to stop

Is this a theatrical film or for streaming? I'll pay to see Fantasia kill it on the big screen and I'm not usually into these musicals too much. She's got an awesome voice.
