Im physically okay and the cops were here etc but obviously i havent slept since and now i just wanna leave the house but im scared the person is lurking in front of my door or something...this is too much. Have any of you dealt with something like this?

This story is so weird, ill post later, but the craziest thing is that i think the cops thought i was a druggie having paranoia, they asked me about my bloodshot eyes (i have eye problems) and about my bandaid on my arm (had blood drawn yesterday at the doctor). Talk about a unlucky set of coincidences -.-

I had a feeling thats what it was

no more ground level apartments if u can help it

they're usually more affordable (at least here in America ... not sure about over the pond) but the trade off is massive . Especially depending on the area you're in.

Maybe get roommates in a higher level unit if cost is the challenge . Safety is always #1

I honestly don't know what I would do

i was woken up by a loud bang noise that definitely sounded like it came from inside my apartment. I automatically move towards my window that faces the street cause i think it could be a good escape if someone rushes into my room at any given moment. After 1-2 min i think that maybe it was just a nightmare, but then i hear it again. A loud BANG. I dial 911 and open up my blinds and carefully open the window to possibly escape to the street. After i turn away and back to the window all of the sudden a man is standing in front of me and yells ,,hey!" or something along those lines. I dont remember much but it seemed as if he was gonna attack me, so i rush back into my corridor and towards the apartment door. I was shaking, so took me a while to unlock it. I felt like the first person to get killed in SCREAM and i didnt want to end up like that! I make it into the building corridor/ stairway, tell the police to come. In the meantime the guy breaks my windows i could hear it and see it later. I then see him walk outside with a fucking street sign in his hand (saw this from inside). I honestly thought he was gonna kill me as im trying to escape by running up the stairs like the dummies in the movies xD so then he was gone, the police arrives. I assume he was never inside the apartment, unless he got in through the windows as i was hiding in the building staircase. But maybe he did want to break in initially? I dont know. But the cops thought i was a drugged lunatic and that my story didnt add up.
