Does requesting music at radio stations even work anymore?

I know it did back in the day, but now it seems like they already have a set list of songs.

yeah, I kinda gave up on the radio
I don't even listen to it anymore...they play the same songs all day

and with streaming and downloads taking over, radio just kinda seems irrelevant

Not really. Honestly from experience wayyy back in the day for Bey & MC if a fan base request too much it can turn radio programmers off. and most of the time it is a waste of time.

However... sometimes on twitter certain programmers ask what would people like to hear and when fans tweet them (not the same accounts spamming) they'll put the record on the playlist to play.

i doubt it.
the next best thing to do is to tweet the radio's social media in droves.
that's what the interns will be paying attention to, Twitter, Instagram, etc. vs. links.
