What's music suppose to sound like in 2016?

I don't see a lot of veteran R&B singers chasing "trends" or running to mainstream producers.

Ex. Janet and her latest album she came out with an age appropriate first single and music. Although Burn It Up sounds like something straight out of the early 00's tho.
