But I heard since Gaga was nominated for Just Dance prior to her breakthrough year and wasnt eligible for a Best New Artist nom the following year, they changed the rule that you have to have your first full length album released. Meghan's album was released at the top of 2015 though her songs came out like in August 2014.

The Best New Artist category is literally "Who's the best new artist in terms of talent that has come out in the past year?" Sam Hunt ain't getting it, I agree. It's gonna be between Meghan and Tori.
