Kalifornia.

How do y'all feel about it?

There are a couple of places I want to go but I really don't want to wait on friends, which could take a while.

The thought of going all alone is kinda scary tho.

I dont travel alone WITHIN the states so nah. My friends and I arent.....well...BROKE, so it's never really a wait on someone issue tho LOLZ!
This is my pass to say WHATEVER tf I wanna say about the mess she releases so I don't wanna hear SHIT! Baby mama is a mess of a song btw

I travel a lot alone I'm going to the UK next month. Love traveling alone don't want nobody irritating me. Just familiarize yourself with the location, points of interest like the police station, program important international phone numbers etc and keep in contact with someone at home as frequently as you can.

my first thought was just go for it

but hten i remembered anytime ive done that ...even though i boarded the plane by myself...ive always had people waiting across the pond that i knew and was comfortable with. and could actually trust tbh. if something went horribly wrong i def had someone to call.

so i guess i cant really claim i def "went alone".

id just say do a shitload of homework. top to bottom. dont treat it as a domestic trip where u just book ur ticket, make sure ur documents are in order and board the plane and stay at a hotel. if ur by urself dig deep into info about that hotel, know what is in the surrounding areas. know what type of neighborhood/area you'd be in, etc.

know the laws for that country, the ins and outs, experiences...especially being black traveling ...as with most things unfortunately, we have to consider other things on TOP of the usual general safety mess.

Significant Discovery: First known Black American family of Kalmyk descent

Takeaways: Be prepared to pivot, even when you think you're on the right track. Be OK with being wrong so you can get things right.

Kalmyks are tribal Mongolic people who settled in Russia. It's estimated that only 300,000 Kalmyk descendants exist worldwide - with only 3,000 in America.

That's so wonderful for y'all.

My circle is full of career gorls. So it can be hard to sync our schedules at times considering the pivotal roles we play.

I'm glad that unemployment and stimulus benefits are affording you & your tribe the funds & free time to slay them Spirit flights tho.

AYE!

I think you should do it. Go to a Middle Eastern country! :ohwow:

I've done a "semi" solo trip in Europe in 2018. Half of the trip I spend in Greece with a group and then I broke away and did a week n change between London and Paris by myself.

London was incredibly easy to navigate and to meet a lot of new people. It felt like NYC but slower paced and much friendlier. I'm still actually close with the friends I made in London. And you meet a lot of people just doing the same thing, solo tripping or backpacking around Europe.

Paris was probably the most beautiful place I've ever been to. And although i had a really enjoyable experience, I wouldn't recommend going alone. Most of the things I did, I probably would've enjoyed more with a companion tbh. And the language barrier made it more challenging to connect with locals and adjust. I think that's why I left wanting more time there. You feel like you didn't experience much cuz you leave as soon as you start to adapt. Paris also felt kinda sketch.. so I didn't feel comfortable going out at night alone, like I did in London. London felt more like a melting pot... Paris, I very much felt and appeared like a foreigner (American) and it was uncomfortable at times.

Overall though, I HIGHLY recommend traveling alone. It was the best experience of my life. I definitely encourage you to do London solo.

London is def just NYC with a british accent.

sfsffsfsfsssfsf

I really do think WHERE/WHAT country/specific city you're visiting overseas makes a big difference in how careful you need to be.

Saying "I'm going to London by myself" is definitely a lot different than saying "I wanna go to North Korea by myself lolz"

i wouldn't advise someone to go anywhere alone unless i know where exactly they plan on going.
"traveling internationally" is super general.

The being Black part definitely crossed my mind. That's one of the things that makes me most nervous.
