My interpretation of "classic" being something that is "timeless" makes sense and again is usually widely accepted or at least admitted. A song needs time to become "classic." And 5/10/20 years from then, if it still gives the same feels, has been in semi-regular rotation all that time, is played at functions, etc etc.... That's an undeniable classic. It may not be a "fact" by definition, that's why I said widely accepted truth.

someone can have a "hit" on some more random billboard chart like "top dance club songs" and call it a "hit" and not be "wrong "

and someone else can easily come say "bitch that aint no REAL hit" but have absolutely no information to prove themselves "right" in saying so other than "TAH ME a real hit is da hot 100! "

and ultimately they wouldn't be "wrong" either considering that's their opinion and personal standard of a "hit"
