Herb.

it is never fair to take it out on everyone surrounding you.
don't let their happiness and self pride offend you, because you don't feel the same way about yourself.

how can someone's zest for life and happiness be seen as "rubbing it" in your face?
Could it be that you simply feel they are because you don't feel the same?

Are there really people who search for unhappy people to act happy and playful around?
If anything, shouldn't you want to hope that their joy is contagious?

i don't believe in disclosing your personal success or lack there of, in general
not everyone wants to see you do well or be happy
small circle of people who you trust and are encouraging/supportive and vice versa is key

but that has little do with being a HAPPY person in general. Some people are just naturally chipper and exude positivity

you can be all of those things without discussing or bragging about ur bank account. that's not the same thing

i know that they're different...

And it's RARE that someone will have an issue with another person who is just being chipper and excluding positivity. Just being a fun person, in general, is not a problem for most, if not ALL people. So this factor is irrelevant.

The problems usually arise when they ASSUME or SEE external factors that may be deemed beneficial or whatever, regardless if you're chipper or not. You don't even have to speak about your bank account, your occupation, or anything.

And IMO, this usually happens with people who are not secure with themselves or where they truly want to be in their own lives.

I just reread Afro's post.
I read it wrong to begin with.

I find it strange that someone would have a problem with a happy, positive person... without any other factors being attached.

i can't relate to that feeling, because i thrive off of positive people
i literally eliminate negative people from my life
positive people help you stay encouraged, focused, etc.
