I'm so proud of him.
I always point out his mess so lemme give him his kudos too.

He finally realizes that, regardless of what's what in the content , ultimately this is a platform and a show we have that we cannot find anywhere else to celebrate us on such a large scale .

This is what I've been saying for years. To see others getting to that point makes me so happy - especially those with large, influential platforms.

I don't know his intent cuz he and I weren't chatting on the phone last night

So I can only go by what he's saying and it seems genuine

He's not only stopping the BET hate but I he's also watching how he uses to the word "ghetto"

He's beginning to check what could be unintentional and subconscious anti-blackness .

And , if his goal is to get a seat at the BET table that to me would only speak more to how much he sees value in the platform .

the BET soul train awards are more tame, grown n sexy

but the BET Awards is always geared to a younger audience.
always. which means, its gonna be more turnt tf up.

but there's literally an award show for everyone on the network

this whole "is this what black culture is?  " thing that people do is a little dramatic to me

hip-hop has always been super influential though

of course its dominant, it's the loudest subculture in the room

it's fun. there's energy. the music, the lingo - how it's able to easily incorporate AAVE (African-American Vernacular English) because its so un-formal and un-"classy".

of course people , even those who aren't even black and probably should just sit down somewhere, wanna join the party.

and honestly it is huge part of black culture . and one i feel is important
