The same reason she turned down Broadway roles and other opportunities... She didn't want to do it. She wanted to release her music and go back to her life like she did and still does. The woman wasn't complaining, she was answering a question during an interview. Other than this I've never heard her mention anything like this. She considers herself an underdog but she says she knows she put herself in that position bc she wanted a life and she had one

Monica definitely deserves her flowers. She's accomplished a lot without having a major presence in TV/Pop culture, endorsement deals, feature films and headlining major tours like her peers. They're more alike than people would like to admit but we can agree to disagree. Monica is much more guarded with her life than Mary was/is but she is for sure one of Marys children. I see more Mary in her than Whitney tbh.
