-LA at a point found himself having doubts about Usher, after other people had been very 'meh' about him.  Diddy was someone who really championed Usher. LA frequently voiced his concern for Usher's vocal shortcomings during the production of the My Way album. The My Way album went through a few drafts, as no one felt Usher's music had any hit potential. My Way was Jermaine Dupri's vision. Usher didn't like "You Make Me Wanna", but LA loved it. He felt it gave the illusion that Usher had more range and soul than he really had at the time.

-LA feels black catalog (music) doesn't sell as well as white catalog because there just aren't as many black people in the country. Black artists would need to appeal to white people in order to sell big numbers, while white artists don't need to appeal to anything. It's just how the nation is made up. With only 13% of the population being black, there's always the chance that only 13% of the population will take notice to you if your black. LA finds it just an inbred hurdle.

-LA didn't understand TONI's first bankruptcy and drama. He had always felt that they had taken care of her and paid her correctly. Toni hated all the ballads and the gowns they were making her wear, as she felt it made her sound boring and look old.

-LeftEye was almost completely absent from the FanMail recordings. When he was played the FanMail album, he said he didn't hear any hits outside of No Scrubs. He asked Missy if she had anything for TLC, and she sent "Where My Girls At?". He loved it, and sent it to them saying it would be the 2nd single after Scrubs. They sent it back, because it wasn't from their Atlanta camp. He called and begged T-Boz to do the song, and agreed to pay her the same amount he was paying Missy for it, and T-Boz called back and told him he was a "dick rider" for trying to hop on the dick of whoever is hot.[/i]

i honestly do consider chris the male brandy
not literally
but his style, the way he does things... he's clearly influenced by her
and is the closest male counter-part IMO, of course
everyone else will think otherwise

i have always felt that Usher is respected for being SUCCESSFUL
I don't think of his vocals or anything about his craft
:dead:
thats unfortunate
he's definitely been praised for his craft
Vocals, dancing, performing etc
Brandy said he was AMAZING in Chicago

Brandy says EVERYBODY is amazing, hun.
no she doesn't
and definitely not amazing enough to inspire HER to do something after they did or even PAY to go to their shows

It's ok for Usher to be known or respected for just being SUCCESSFUL and clearly having someone behind him to push through... cause even his own people didn't see it for him.

And even with all the #1s and albums sold... they were right.
I mean, we're not here for his vocals. lol. or his artistry. just not there.
he was only like 15 at the time that "his people" said this and going through puberty

and who is this "we" that's not here for his vocals or artistry? Climax is one of the most CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED R&B songs of the past 5 years
forget the success. None of these niggas are pulling off that song vocally either

Speaking of Chris
HE SAID
Quote? If it wasn?t for Usher, then Chris Brown couldn?t exist,? he maintains. ?When I would look at Usher, I would be like ?F**k, he has it.? The only other guy that I looked at like that was Michael Jackson.?

Rxxf

chris's artistry and his delivery has brandy-isms
