thats a whole fuckin bridge ...people are gonna have to find an entire new way to connect with whatever it was connecting them to.

It's unclear what caused the ship to crash. The ship was traveling toward the bridge at 8 knots (or about 9 mph) which Maryland Gov. Wes Moore called a "very rapid speed." The ship's crew notified authorities of a power issue through a mayday call before it struck the bridge.

Because of the warning, Moore said port authorities were able to stop traffic and prevent more vehicles from traveling onto the bridge.

"These people are heroes they saved lives last night," Moore said

The governor and other officials couldn't offer details about how many vehicles might have been on the bridge at the time it collapsed.
