it's not regression LOL Regression is a strong word IMO which almost would imply that there were no racial tensions for years or something

This chart is very eerie, and a bit disturbing but I feel a need to share.
This shows how long slavery and oppression were open and legal.
Slavery was legal for 246 years. It was then abolished, but segregation was perfectly fine for 89 years following.
We have only been truly free and equal for 54 years.
My grandmother is older than that. My FATHER is older than that. And that is truly disturbing.

345 years of slavery, Jim Crow laws, terrorism against blacks, lynchings, beatings
and 54 years of "freedom and equality".

We are still LIVING through a very hurtful history.

So I wish some white person would ever look in my face and tell me to get over anything.
Dumb bitch, I'll get over it once it's completely eradicated.

:omgwatshappening: Well regression is regression no matter to which degree. I agree with what you are saying, however look at what's going on today... We are basically inadvertently  segregating ourselves again after 50+ years of President Johnson signing the civil rights act, I mean we have students on University campuses calling for "Black Only Safe Space" zones? What part of history  does this sound like? Calling every little thing that we are uncomfortable with racist? It may not seem like it but these type of things are very divisive.

I'm trying to remember a time when racism didn't exist during my time on Earth .
Yeah, drawing a blank. I still remember, as a child, watching the separation of races during the OJ trial. Blacks hoping for his acquittal, regardless of whether he took 2 innocent lives or not :usureuok: , and whites hoping for his swift punishment, regardless of whether he did the deed or not. Even then I knew that this country was a divided one, based on race. Didn't really know why but I definitely could see it.

If anything, I feel the increased presence of social media and internet usage has only placed more of the mess directly in front of our faces. We can now pull out cell phones and record a black man being beat or arrested for no reason. We can write blogs about experiences we've had going into white neighborhoods or applying for jobs at white owned companies -- and immediately reach hundreds of people, and even millions of people once  and if it goes viral.

We can expose text messages sent from officer to officer encouraging one another to find and beat down black people. Did they suddenly just decide to start beating up blacks again? Or did they slip up by using new technology which can be pulled at any point to prosecute them? Instead of just calling each other like they usually did.

I get your point but I don't feel it's specifically regression. I just can't label it like that. To say or even insinuate that there was any point in time where racial division wasn't present is a stretch for me.
