dsndjsdsjsdsd

her husband thought she spent too much time at the law firm

and working on her laptop

very offensive , stereotypical "struggle" story line
Project started: 2014
Wrapped up: 2024

Significant Discovery: First known Black American family of Kalmyk descent

Takeaways: Be prepared to pivot, even when you think you're on the right track. Be OK with being wrong so you can get things right.

Kalmyks are tribal Mongolic people who settled in Russia. It's estimated to be only 300,000 Kalmyk descendants worldwide - with only 3,000 in America.

like, I guess having a conflict with her husband was "struggle"?
So then EVERY character in every drama is also in a struggle?
I haven't spoken to Oaf in a minute and I see he's still

By the way 2 characters is not all you could come up with.
Honestly Angela was a hair salon owner and her husband was a sports commentator and former player

Patricia was a successful author and was beefing with her husband over the profits from her book

Alfre Woodard's character in The Family that Preys was a secret millionaire, Sanaa was well off too and worked at the firm with the Cartwright's

Mea in Mea Culpa was another successful lawyer who was taking care of her husband

!!!

Tyler showcases all types of Black people in his story lines.
The hood chicks, the professionals / CEO's

some of his story lines are even ambitious in their representation ..especially in Good Deeds, where a Black man was the CEO of a massive Fortune 500-ish company. That type of story is very rare in America

it's just that the loud, ghetto ones get the most attention ....cuz they're loud and ghetto.

and ppl watch them the most
I'm not advocating Tyler Perry as a good filmmaker but his issue is not
only showing Black women struggling lol.

We all know the context of "black woman strugglin" especially as it relates to accusations that are often thrown at Tyler Perry

Saying all he shows Black women dealing with is: Baby daddy drama , on food stamps/drugs , living in the projects, catching AIDS

it's an often recycled talking point used against Tyler . Just be ready to stand behind it once challenged. Don't try to remix it once the going gets tough
