The Twitter community loves to stand behind the idea that "Black people are not a monolith." Of course, nothing is, but I agree with Lee. I have known many "Albertas," especially in the South and smaller cities. This is less common in large, diverse cities like NYC. In my experience interracial couples in the large cities like NYC , LA etc tend to both act white. In the South and most of middle America interracial couples are mostly rooted in Black culture, or at least it was in the past. Plus, white people in larger cities tend to have identities more rooted in their ethnicity—like Italian, Polish, etc.—so they don't borrow from others.
I don't think Lee is super far off with this.
