a lot of times the whole "large and in charge!" mess is simply a defense mechanism
and the flip side of that is people constantly making self-deprecating jokes and comments about their weight. laughing at themselves before others can do it. (which is understandable)
there's a certain danger in making your weight your identity. having this attachment to it as if it's something that is in stone and unmovable.
the moment someone truly realizes that weight is something that is well within their control (whether it goes up or down), they will feel empowered.
not just HEAR it ...cliche slogans like "u can do it!" "less calories more exercise!"
but KNOW that they call the shots and the body is simply following their lead.
IMO this will also replace self-pity with a strengthened sense of accountability
I think this is a bit off base
Its a bit of a paradox but those who finally had the strength to change their weight
Usually did so because of an internal shift of acceptance and self love
Not out of dislike for their appearance or body
Those who are externally motivated by society, family peer pressure
Are typically making changes out of fear
And some misinterpret a succesfull weightloss to a positive body image
But thats only due to the social construct that thinner is sexier or more sound mentally and superficial people are impressed by it
But the internal struggle still is there and needs
to.be dealt with or it spills over into other parts of ur life and also comes back as weight in most cases
So when u see someone saying they are large and in charge what do you want them to say?
Im.fat and i dont accept or love myself untill i reach a certain weight on the scale????????
Noooooo
U do the work of unconditional love and acceptance of self
And that will be the driving force behind wanting to be healthier and making changes that reflect that unconditional love and acceptance of self
But given how performative youve been in the past for others that mentality makes sense
But thats not the behind the scenes process for those that make the changes succesfully
