this story is really picking up more than I thought it would  :kii:

Some of the Black Americans are drawing a got damn line in the sand

https://x.com/tariqnasheed/status/1837590653880226131

I live for Kiimala but there is some validity to some of what's being said. Kamala is not a Black American person

She is def and clearly Black but I have to agree she is not a "foundational Black American", or "ADOS".

And that's not even a matter of "how much is she"'or "does she look it". This is simply a history/roots thing. Fact is she doesn't have roots here in America.

But there are plenty of Black Americans who embrace and treat Kiimala as one of us . Understandably  so.

I'm not against that. I just remember she's not ADOS.

And I'm Still voting for her   :indiaarie:  trump damn sure ain't gettin my mess

Kalmyks are tribal Mongolic people who settled in Russia. It's estimated to be only 300,000 Kalmyk descendants worldwide - with only 3,000 in America.

And when I think of it , this story is picking up much more than i thought it would cuz although what Janet said is technically incorrect

Her comment kinda brings a discussion that was kinda being swept under the rug

I mean yeah Trump has been referencing Kamala's ethnic/racial identity nonstop but he did the same with Elizabeth Warren - calling her "Pocahontas" as a running joke cuz of her "I got sum Indian up in me  :young: " claims

So people expect this of him and can gloss over it as he attacks Kamala

But this is different. I think people are angry with Janet because she's kinda unknowingly forcing everyone to address the elephant in the room.

Elephant being: "Does Kamala really represent Black Americans?"

They better tread lightly with GODnet tho. :trannyjblige: she means no harm

I honestly thought this story would be a non-event but I'm fucking shocked. It makes sense though

I don't think they care to explore that layer, or reason with someone like Janet who may inadvertently unveil other uncertainties ... in their minds you either support Trump, or support someone who is not Trump. No room for questions.

Trump said he and Michael were really good friends.

a lot of Black Americans are def diving in on twitter specifically regarding her ethnic background...debating and arguing about it

honestly these points/conversations about Kamala have been around for a while. ...pointing out that she's not Black American/ADOS/FBA

it's just that no one as high on the totem pole and respected as Janet has come forward to question these things in any way.

im inclined to agree that Kamala is NOT Black American and does not truly represent us.
and i'd say that's not even my opinion. it's a fact. Black American-ness is not part of her family history at all.

but I'm also NOT against Kamala being held up and honored by Black Americans.

however, Kamala has always been a kii with her "look at me cook some greens yall!  wit da ham hock n errthang! i gots hot sauce in my bag! i luh me some soul food!" routine. it's always been cringey af to me..simply because it comes off as disingenuous

but i still live for her. will be voting for her and would def hang with her. just cuz shes always so damn happy

Wtf is wrong with Janet? She should've kept it cute and gave a media-trained response. Especially, since the interviewer is nobody notable. Usher recently gave a really vague, but good response on the View when he was asked about Kamala.

These celebrities are rich and fiscally align with the Republican Party. I get it, but they got to know the power of their words and that there's a time and place to say certain things.

Justice Jackson

Yeah the debate about who is "black" is dumb. She was raised in America.. Around black folks, went to an hbcu..and I'm sure has been treated like a black woman every step of the way. She lived through desegregation. Hell if you got two water fountains, she not drinking out the whites only fountain

But beyond that, the other candidate is white. What is the point of ados, fba etc? Nobody is asking them to vote for her because she's black (which she is). They are fighting the fucking air about nonsense. Either choose a candidate or stfu. It's all excuses to support trump in order to be white adjacent (power) and perpetuate misogyny. They are all grifters and unserious BTW.
Ketanji Jackson has come this far by faith.

Ketanji Brown will still beatcho ass.

i'd be careful with that

people like Kamala are clearly Black but one could sensibly question how strongly they have Black American issues/needs at heart as someone who doesn't really come from an ADOS/FBA background.

there is a difference IMO.

to me there's no question about Kamala's RACE, as she clearly passes as a Black woman IMO.
anyone questioning her RACE is doing a bit much. especially considering her phenotype (appearance)

but her ethnic group/family history is another story. i CAN understand people drawing a line with that
and fully support it

although I honestly don't have any issue with Kamala.

every other group of people makes their distinctions and draws their lines, why tf cant we - if and as we choose.
someone is simply stating a fact if they say "Kamala's family history is not ADOS/FBA."

but I also completely understand those who DONT choose to draw those lines, such as you. i just dont use the "ADOS FBA blah blah blah!!! who cares!" talking points.

When I look at Kamal, I see a light-skinned black woman but If we're being honest, she does need to be questioned regarding her recent response to reparations AT SOME POINT AFTER ELECTION I SUPPOSE. Poor timing to question anything regarding her when the alternative is Trump but at the same time, stop playing in our faces.
