what surprised me was that actually it was her mom who halted the release of a 3rd album at the time (that story where she told the label that jojo is quitting music and should go to college). Tbh maybe she sort of sabotaged her career at the time. Who knows if blackground wouldve acted the way they did, if she had another smash hit era soon after her 2nd album.

But then again they were acting sketchy af already at the time, threatening movie agents etc and sort of sabotaging her movie projects.
