On the original version of The Boy Is Mine, Monica has more lead parts than Brandy.

She sings lead on two of the hooks all by herself.

I never realized until today. WTF?

From the start to the finish of the song Monica has 29 lead parts and Brandy has 25 lead parts.

Even on the single version, Monica has 20 lead parts and Brandy has 17 lead parts

I guess If you count the hook backgrounds that Brandy does by herself she is on the track more (the hook is meant for you to believe both girls are singing since they both feel the same about the guy and towards one another) but Monica has more lead parts. I wonder if this was strategic or if they just didn't notice.

I think the song structure is fair.
Brandy begins and ends the song.
The HOOK sounds like Brandy really, if anything.

Significant Discovery: First known Black American family of Kalmyk descent

Takeaways: Be prepared to pivot, even when you think you're on the right track. Be OK with being wrong so you can get things right.

Kalmyks are tribal Mongolic people who settled in Russia. It's estimated to be only 300,000 Kalmyk descendants worldwide - with only 3,000 in America.

Bran is always diplomatic and generous so I'm sure she let her have the extra parts
Besides she is the only one of the two who helped write it so I bet she doesn't mind since she gets the publishing royalties

Monica felt more like a feature like Brandy set her up to shine and it should've been that way I guess similar to how Tiwa let bran shine on somebody son .. I think it should be that way when you invite someone into a song.

ReVonIsMine

Not Monica only doing the duet if she had more lead time.

Negotiate then, Monica! :plzstop:  :kii:  :dead:

yearofbrandy

Brandy does that a lot though. In a lot of features, She let the other artist do more. The time she was working with Neyo especially!

Purple Moon

What are the differences between the album and single version?
Must be a purple moon, feel like one of those nights...

I'm confused are we counting ad libs as lead parts? And in a phrase, how are we counting the sentences?

Before the bridge when Monica says

"IM so sorry, you seem to be confused. He belongs to me"

Is that 2 lead parts?

oph.

idk why yall do this annually vvcxx

they both slayed. bran (usually) works with other talented artists and they deliver together, ie. TBIM

she doesnt "let" anyone do more. they create together, thats not a competition. fear of being upstaged only exists in the gors who aint really got it. brans got it

Gilgamesh.

I still don't know wtf Mo saying is on her parts on the bridge.
